I'd say he's mostly retarded but he's still an awesome person in the show. Just watching retarded things is funny a lot of the time. You have to realize though that these kind of shows are supposed to be random therefore they don't necessarily make sense. If you think about it, in real life a person who's a complete idiot wouldn't be able to make a robot.

I'd have to say an idiot. According to South Park episodes, Family Guy writers are manatees that pick out story balls to make up the plot and that's why Family Guy is so random. I could actually believe that in a funny way. The thing is, Peter is always buying something that he can't afford or doing something so out of the way in a short amount of time that does not make it feasibly possible to happen. Building a robot without help from robot experts is something very intelligent to do, but Peter is not an intelligent guy, it was just something convenient with the plot. It's been proven too many times that he is an idiot and that weights heavily against the genius moments.

Well, the way the writers have Peter Griffin in so many unbelieveable situations it's easy to see him building a robot without any expert help. But, I think he's an idiot. I watch this show because it's one of my favorites but I'm constantly amazed that his wife, Lois, continues to love this idiot! LOL Of course, I've been very surprised at some of things she comes out with, as well!
