There is no question of feeling comfortable or uncomfortable, as far as responding to posts started by dear friends is concerned. It mainly depends upon the subject matter of the post, if I feel that I can throw some light on the issue and have something to share, I do write my response and if I see that the issue is such that I have nothing much to say, I skip the discussion, irrespective of the fact, who has started the same.

I am very much comfortable with my American friends for their to the point and devil may care attitude, I am comfortable with the Philippines friends for their simplicity and innocence,
I am comfortable with my Indian friends because I can interact with them on certain subjects that no one in the west will never could understand. So this comfort level is always there with everyone here from everywhere. But we don’t show it and feel happy being bonded by love affection and friendship here .And there is no need to show it too.

I naturally feel comfortable with my friends from my country of the UK, because obviously I know the culture, the rules of the land, the policies etc so that I am on familiar territory. There aren't sadly that many people from the UK on Mylot and most are my friends so I always try to endeavour to respond to them and because they are friends we have a better understanding of each other.

Hi Balaji,
When I am comfortable with the subject then only I respond; and upto this point of time I am comfortable with what I did. If I am not comfortable with any questions I just skip the same and I don't mind who started it (I think that is better).
But you tell me why you started this discussion? Do you felt uncomfortable anytime?

I started this discussion to know how honest a response can be.Though we welcome discussions from people all over the world we may have a preference to some sect of the people .It is inevitable. It needs an attitude to admit it.Will you please look at the response of my friend Wolfie to this discussion? You will understand.

Sure I feel comfortable responding to anyone from any country. I need to understand the discussion and be able to give some decent input on my end or I won't respond. If it's a technical question about computers or some other complicated piece of machinery, I will avoid the discussion. I like to read about all the different cultures and events that happen in various countries.

I think all people are similar. I just think through learning our differences we can understand that our motivations are mostly the same... just the methods are different.

I do not have any problem in replying to discussions posted by people from any part of the world as long as they are worth responding to and interesting.Sometimes certain discussions may not suit me for eg discussions on Halloween or Thanksgiving which are not celeberated in my country so i don`t reply to those.Generally i find that people post discussions which can be answered by anyone from any country and if i like them i respond without any misgivings.

If something interests me I don't take that much notice where the person who started the discussion comes from unless it is relevant to the subject. I find the majority of people can have a lot in common regardless of culture and location.

Hello balasri! I don't really mind about the country of my friend when responding to a discussion. I reply to my friends discussion as much as I can. What important is, it is easy to understand, interesting and I can relate to it. I don't even go to their profile just to check where they are from.

I don't check where people are from on their profile either. SOmetimes I'll ask if they say something about weather or just to make conversation.

I really don't pay attention where the person is from for who started the discussion. If the discussion is of interest I will respond. I think there is many of us that have lots in common and this is a good place to learn all about it. Even new things of the way other cultures do things, I think those are also interesting.
Happy Mylotting!

i dontreally have any prefeences to people from any country. as long as they're not offensive or rude and provides genuine interest i dont really have a problem. however the rude and offensive ones often get a ban from me. although you feel more at ease with people from the same country there's not really any prejudiced feelings. after all, the internet is a great place to meet new people from other country.

I think, the comfort level is more in the individual than in the nation and culture. The bind we share here with different individual largely contribute to the comfort level and its irrespective of differences in geography or culture or custom. Its more about emotional bond and I have friends from all categories with whom I share the same vibes.

Well, not really, though I do admit that there are at times, some topics that I do not have anything to contribute- moreso, when it is from our international friends and these topics are typically out of my league.
But by and large, I feel that many topics are universal especially when it concerns human behaviour, marital problems, human dynamics, friendship, perceptions, parenting, education etc, etc etc...,In this case, if I feel like I just respond.
I do not make any conscious differentiation but if it so happens that my friends from my own country post some topics thta attract my attention , perhaps it is also due to some similarity in taste.

I respond to any discussion regardless of where the one who started it came from... and as long as i can relate to it... i don't usually check the nationality of the members before i respond... but it is always great to know that we are from the same country... or that person came from a place i know nothing about...

i don't have any preference about the nationality of the discussion starter. although we all come from different cultural background, i guess that's what makes mylot interesting. all of us have our own way of looking at things. i response to discussions that interests me. i give my view on the discussion topic even though i might know that it runs contrary to what culture dictates in the discussion starter's country. to me, that's the whole purpose of starting a discussion. that is, to get different opinions on the topic. cheers

This idea of responding to discussions from any particular country did not come to me until I read your discussion. I usually respond to any question that I'm interested in because then I have something to contribute, at least something to say.
I have been very busy lately and I sometimes only respond to discussions that are on the top list of heated ones. I hope I can log in mylot more and read and share more. Your discussion reminds me of being a mylot member lol. Thank you!

I feel comfortable that we can express our opinions from different countries at mylot. it is also the main reason why i am here. From discussion form different place we can understand more about the world, diffferent country different culture, different custom. i dont discriminate country, but i will choose the point i am interested..
