The next lucas arts game will have nothing to do with the force or aspiring sith lords and jedi knights. Fracture, the next venture of the game publisher that lives and breathes star wars ditches the light sabers for a terrain deforming alternative. And i mean this is in the most literal sense.
Set sometime in the future, global warming threatens the very existdnce of mankind; slowly sinking continents and dividing america and its technology as a result. The east side specializes in terrain deforming technology while the west focuses on genetic enchancements. Since fracture is all about terrain deforming, don't expect to be on the side west.
As jet brody, you control a weapon called the entrencher. This weapon will allow you to reshape the ground for your own strategic advantage. Simply shooting at the earth using the entrencher will cause it to erupt into a mountain of any size, providing you cover or many offensive possibilities.
The main attraction of fracture though is the actual game world. Practically anything that composed of soil or anything naturally made can be manipulated to your liking. Using the entrencher, you can destroy enemy fortifications by erupting the ground beneath it, form a boulder out of the ground and sling it at the enemy and even throw a certain grenade that would cause a huge pillar to form, which you can use to get to hard to reach places.
And as result of all of the above, the once leveled battlefield eventually becames a messy collection of cavernous pits and obscure mountain formations. And land deformation is not only limited to the capabilities of the entrencehr. Even the regular weapons will affect the land in some way.
Machineguns will slowly chip away at the earth, possibly burrowing into your cover and grenades will break pieces of the land once detonated, it's even accompanied by a cool rippling effect that will actually cause the ground to ripple. There also a certain type of grenade called vortex grenade. It will suprise any objects nearby amd even the ground beneath it into some sort of electrical whirlwind.
Not erything in fracture can be turned inside out though. Parts of the game that will have you infiltrate enemy strongholds forces you to put aside the entrencher for a machinegun. It seems that in Fracture anything made out of steel and concrete are impervious to deformation. Hopefully, these portions of the game will be few in the final build... This game is really great for me and to all... Happy earnings and god bless! ! !
