Baby to have his own email account?

Will you create an email account for your baby just to reserve the username for him/her? Most of the time, we have to add in numbers or alphabet after our username as the username has been taken. For that reason, I have created a gmail account for my baby boy with his name and there is no one using it yet. What do you think?

No I will not, to each his own I guess. I on the other hand think that it is ridiculous. I mean who is to say that your child will even want that name as their email or website name later on down the road. but again like I said it is an individual choice. I guess I just have so much going on in my life that I don't have time to worry about that. It just seems menial in the big scheme of things. Sorry but I don't agree.

Lexus656, well, I think everyone should have a formal email address which use their name as username. This is useful when they want to apply for job. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

In my opinion it is an overkill for the baby to have his own email account. The main reason is it cannot be ascertained whether the baby will grow up healthy or otherwise (hopefully he will). On the other hand when the time comes he might appreciate it. Spammers are moving in into gmail. Think of possible implications. Your baby's email address can be spoofed and used by spammers. By the time your baby grows up the email address may has gained a place in a blacklist. all the best, rosdimy

rosdimy, thanks for your reply. Before my son can use an email, I will help him to take care of his account.

To each their own but I personally would not do it. Some people do not like using their real names in their email addresses. Also, by the time the child is old enough to use an email - gmail - hotmail - yahoo - who knows where they will be....if they will still even be in business or if something much bigger and better comes along which you can probably bank on that happening since it will be at least 13 or 14 years before the child starts using emails. Have a good day!! :)

In my thinking, I help my child to reserve the gmail account with his own name but he can still choose to use it or not in future.

i wouldnt or wouldnt think of it because by the time he is old enough to use it there may be something better than the net by then.. and having to make sure the account stays active and etc.. i would forget to check it

you can buy a domain name for your baby , when it get 18 & can create their owm mail account with that. it will be available till you dont allow others to register it as you have the full control.

No, I would not. Honestly, I have never heard or even thought of doing this. It will be many, many years before our children will have their own e-mail account.
