Crazy! You've never seen snow before! Where do you live?
We don't get a lot of snow here but we usually get a couple days. It usually just turns to rain and washes away.

We had a fairly decent snowfall yesterday. The snow was pretty consistent the day before and left everything with a nice coating of snow. This was not the first snowfall of the year, but we have not had a major storm yet.
The recent snowfall was also mixed with freezing rain which is not convenient when you have to drive or even when you have to clean off your car lol.
I apprecieted this snowfall because I love to look outside at the 'winter wonderland'. I hope more snow is on the way!

Is freezing rain the same thing as hail?
I too love the look of winter wonderland. It started snowing last night again. We've had about 6 or 7 inches of snow and its sticking. It just sucks to get around in.

Freezing rain is rain that hits a specific temperature when descending and turns to ice. Hail falls in larger chunks. Sometimes even as big as golf balls(sometimes even larger). It can really do a lot of damage to cars. We did not have hail of this magnitude, so we got lucky.

Just a while ago, another mylotter told in another discussion that in New York, they have just experienced snow 2 or 3 days ago.
Anyway, I'm quite thrilled with the thought of having to experience snowfall. Save some snow for me in a bottle, okay! lol
Here in the Philippines, it isn't a normal phenomenon. Aside from snow, things like hail, sandstorm, and twisters aren't a natural sight here in our location. But lately, some mild twisters (I'm not sure what the appropriate term for them actually.) visited some remote parts in our country which resulted to minor damages and astonishment on faces of those who were able to see it.
Further, there were several instances when instead of rainfall, drops of ice poured over selected parts of the country. I was able to experience one of those occurrences. In particular, this happened a few years back when my spouse and I were in my in-laws' place after getting married. It was a hot afternoon when all of a sudden, we felt a strong gust of wind going horizontally which lasted for about 3 to 5 minutes. After this, drops of ice followed; but I wasn't able to personally experience it because naturally, I took cover inside the house of my in-laws.
At present, it's quite cold out here which is quite normal because we consider December as one of the colder months or locally, this is known as 'ber-months'. Happy holidays & try to keep warm!

Wow ! Those ice storm's sound scary. We have hail sometimes but nothing like that. It sounds like you have some extreme weather! I was once in a typhoon in Japan. It was a scary yet thrilling experience.
Happy holidays to you too!

I agree that a little bit of snow is nice but too much is such a hassle. I'm glad that I get to experience snow.. but also glad it melts quick here.

Oh no!
I hope your ice storm isn't too bad. That can be a lot worse than snow. Keep me posted and be careful!

In Illinois we have had snow and ice since about December 1st. Before then we had a little bit of snow but nothing that really stuck. It has snowed several times since December 1st and it is unbelievably cold.

It actually snowed about a week ago and stuck a little, but not enough to cancel working or school or to hurt too many people on the road. It all melted away the next day and now on Monday it's almost 70 degrees F! Weather is so weird sometimes.. I wish it could choose which season it wanted to be! Haha
