Although i have never done either myself i was interested to know what people thought on the subject. I am going to be unbiased as alhtough i am a christian i think that cohabatation and/or serious relationships can work just as well as marriage for some people. What do you think?

legal protection, and the knowledge they've sworn an oath to whatever higher powers they believe in, and to you that this is forever.
I have had a long term relationship. next year this long term relationship is formalised with a wedding, but I have to admit, I do think we already have a marriage between us, and that's exactly why we're getting married.

Yeah I guess for some cohabitation is a much more comfortable arrangement between the two. But I see that there is less commitment between the partner. They would engage in partnership the has less of that as compared with marriage. There are also that start into cohabitation and then later decides to get married later in life. I do believe it depends on how each are comfortable with the life they want.

I've done both so I can tell you that the difference, for me at least, is that the commitment seems stronger after you're married. It's not as easy to walk away...at least not emotionally...when you're married and you feel more like one unit instead of feeling like part of a couple. Personally, I like saying "my husband" better than I liked saying "my boyfriend".
