Of course you can.... That is both of you can love each other like lovers. I really do not see any problem since the feeling is mutual. There are friendships that remain friendship and if the feeling of the other has not developed then that would be a problem to the one that fell in love. But in your case I guess there is no doubt that you can go to the next level although things would be different in that level and hopefully both of you are ready to commit.
