Spain condemned the IDF's bombing of a residential district in Gaza that left 18 civilians dead on Wednesday, and reiterated its call for peace talks between both sides in the Middle East conflict. Early Wednesday, IDF tank shells tore through the densely populated neighborhood in Beit Hanoun. The Palestinian Health Ministry said 18 people from an extended family, including eight children, were killed, and about 60 people were wounded. The Spanish government expressed its condolences to the victims' families and to the Palestinian people, and condemned the bombing in a statement from the Foreign Ministry. "Even recognizing the Israeli government's right to watch out for the security of its citizens, the Spanish government has always expressed its opposition to the use of force in solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," it said.
