how do you get a star on mylot?

whats this star that people keep talking about and how in the world do you attain a star for yourself...on what basis do we get a star?
and what does this star do?
does it help us earn more or is it just a ranking that we have on mylot?
i have responded to so many discussions and posted so many discussions but havent yet gotten any star.....
please help!!
