Usually I will cook with sunflower oil, unless the recipe demands/specifies that butter is needed. I cook with oil becausee it seems easier really and is healthier than butter. But I have to say that butter does taste better sometimes. Oh and I will always use unsalted butter

Really? I use sunflower oil all the time for cooking! It is low in cholesterol and saturated fats. And unsalted butter is great as it tastes good too!

For everyday cooking, it is usually vegetable oil in my home. I use olive oil for cooking pasta or some stir fry dishes. Butter is rarely used except for grilled sandwiches or that kind of food. Thedre are certain dishes which I make without either of the above, like rice and lentils or steamed veggies. Health is the only reason, I am careful with what I cook, or else who doesn't love loads of butter !!

I use both. Which one I use depends on what I am making. Neither one is really good for you, so I always use as little as possible when cooking.

I use both. Depends how I feel and what I'm cooking. I like to cook my steak in butter for some reason, but I don't know why. I use oil for my eggs; also for no specific reason. I use sesame oil a lot of times especially on certain fresh vegetables or pasta. The health thing doesn't bother me. I care more about the taste of the food.

i ronnyb, my dear friend,i basically cook in sunflower refined oil. sometimes i cook too cook in butter, but that is a rare case. when i have certain guests at my place, then i at times cook in butter, otherwise not. i have no problem with the taste of food cooked in oil. infact i eat boiled. i cook and eat, just using lemon, salt, black pepper. or according to the taste needed at that time in that item prepared. i have no problem with the taste neither am i crazy for too oily or rich foods. i prefer healthy food and food with less fat , cholestrol .

Hi Ronnyb, I try not to use oil, unless necessary, like in frying or stir-fried dishes. I would use sunflower oil or butter.

I don't use butter at all and it not beacuse of health but because it does not taste good. However I do use all sorts of oil. I mainly use vegetable oil. If i am baking something thn I use margine and not butter. Margerine is easier to melt, its lite and its taste real good as well.

Try to use sunflower oil if you fry or veg oil,you can use low fat spread in cakes and pastrys and it works just as well, try to avoid saturated fats in products as this will stuff up arteries.Olive oil is the best thing to use in salad dressings.Olive oil is expensive but much better for you for frying.Avoid to much fried food we have cut it out except if I make chips,You need some oil to keep you joints moving. As far as taste goes you will get used to it,and you will really notice the saturated fat once you have been without it for a while. It makes you feel sick.Do not use lard it is a killer.I used butter for a victoria sandwich the other week and it made me feel sick it was to much fat.I hope this is what you wanted I get a bit carried away as it is my subject.xx
