im still new here but i have been around for a while and saddened most of us dont read all replies before we give a comment, correct me if Im wrong but one of the rules is 'read all comments before answering' i know its hard when theres a hundread replies -and yes im also guilty
another thing is opening similar/identical topics, this is really not good coz instead of sharing ideas in one thread -answers are scattered in multiple threads.
the best solution for this is use the search bar--its really useful
some posters dont take the time to respond to replies he got -he just opens a new thread w/o checking his previous topics..
this are my observation for the past months -feel free to add something i might have missed

Another point which should be mentioned is myLotters should read the topic (which also means the whole content), what the point is or are, before deciding to make a response. Many responses are way out of topic. There was one where the discussion was on a money earning site, and one responder wrote about a completely different site.
all the best,

Yes it is prevalent here. Most of the friends are in a hurry to make as many discussions and responses as they can in a day.So they never seem to care about the rules and regulation in their enthusiasm.Sans money this will be an even better forum.

I started a discussion asking, out of my own curiosity, if people usually use the search field or just start a new thread when they have something they want to talk about. I've only gotten 5 responses on it but all of them said they just start a new thread; searching for old discussions takes too much time.
Personally, unless it's a personal topic that I want personalized responses to, I search before starting discussions. And if the discussion is something news related or something like that where my response really could be redundant because six other people said it before me then I read a few of them and probably go on to something else. But really, reading other people's responses to discussion threads is why I usually lose interest in forums. By the time I get to the topic, there are so many other responses I get overwhelmed and give up.

Think of the tags you would use when starting your discussion and search for those. Or type in your main question into the search field. Make sure that you are only searching either myLot or discussions instead of web or news or blogs... that will help narrow your results. That's really all I do. I figure if I didn't find what I was looking for that way, there's either nothing to be found or it's tagged completely different than I could think of tagging it and I'll probably never find it.

Yes are correct, i've seen some discussions where the starter of the discussion havn't even responded to any comments in it. Also so do reply without even reading it fully by only reading the title of the discussion. Those types of posts should be deleted so next time they will be careful. Delete or a penalty in earnings.

mylotter staff cant monitor all of them --but if only members can be a bit responsible and not just think about replies it will help mylot as a whole--we can also have meaningful topics coz it will be a real discussion.
maybe mylot can warn repetitive violators that opening a topic should be regulated.

I think I too had opened a "similar" TOPIC which was deleted !
But that was really unintentional !
How do you know whether any similar TOPIC had been posted on mylot before ?

I think everyone has the write answer and to express his opinion even if it similar to others comments, yeah I think he/she need to read the comments but as you said it is difficult to read them all. About starting similar discussion, this happens sometime to many people in mylot , because every one has his own situation and thought or ideas when starting discussion, even if they are similar to many people but in fact they differ in time and person and style, I don't mind to respond to similar discussion with different times, but not being mimicking the whole picture.
For example: if someone start a discussion about "I'm finally get pregnant", would you search for past similar topics and respond to this discussion instead of creating your own discussion, this is not always the case.

There may be a whole lot of cases where someone may want to start a discussion about having gotten pregnant, married, divorces, had a child, graduated, had a child graduate or any number of things that are specific to you and may be important to your friends here in mylot and you would want to share those events with them. There are also items like experimenting wit different sewing or crafting techniques or cooking that you might want to talk about that may have also been covered, but going back and adding to an old discussion may not get results. When I first join, I even got some criticism for commenting on some old discussion, it was mild criticism, and I still comment on old discussions if I find them interesting. I have only started one discussion. I have not been here for a long time (although I think it has been over a year now), but I have found this to be one of the most interesting social networking sites I have joined. I was introduced to it as a place to earn money, and although I have not earned much and have not yet had a pay out, I have enjoyed every minute I have spent on the site. I think one of the reasons that I have not earned a pay out is that frequently I respond to responses and not the original questions, but as long as I am enjoying myself and not upsetting anyone and seem to make a contribute, I am happy. Cheers. Happy Holidays.

I am not a thread starter myself. I seldom do that in here. I loved postin responses than really start my own thread because I am aware that there are many more post that may be similar to mine so I usually think that it is just a waste of time posting similar post around in here.

Yes indeed! It is getting very repetitive at times here sadly.
I don't start many new discussions unless I have time to comment to those who respond but I agree that TOO many just roll out discussion after discussion and never get back to respond - not nice either

yes, you will see their discussion then they open another topic leaving previous topic hanging...i seldom open topics nowadays coz im not very active but, i hope members can be abit considerate and think twice before opening a discussion --that way its really a discussion and not a question and answer ritual..

Thank you for this topic. I am new to mylot but have to admit that I am guilty unless it's politics then I read everything. However I will keep your points in mind while participating in the future as they are very good ones.

Yep, I'm guilty of this as well. I take advantage of new discussions by simply replying in order to earn money. if I went through other people's answers then I probably won't want to write my own answer anymore so that it won't be redundant. Oh well. I don't start a lot of new discussions also because I don't want to have the same discussion as others, which is why i just reply instead of starting ym own discussion.

i am totally guilty of all that. as im sure everyone else is too.
we all make mistakes and tend to take things for granted when we do them everyday.

Well we can't read all the responses because we're still going to say what we think about the discussion despite the fact that someone else might have said the same thing. I think a search thing would be helpful too, but people sometimes ask the same question and a lot of people still respond because they never saw it asked the first time. I'm new too, but I'm learning a lot about this site.

yes i agree to what you say?but this opening of similar/identical topics,i fail to understand, maybe they should stop posting the same topic in the same day,but its simply not possible and what will be left as the site has been running since long, that any user woudnt raise the same topic again.also theres no harm with so many users now.the rule maybe like some rules which were relevant when the site was in a nascent stage.
happy mylotting
