Differentiate between Luxeries and Needs?

A need and luxury are two different things which have nothing in common. Need is something without which a person or man can not live with out, not matter what happens. Luxury is something which you want to flourish your life and make things better on how they deal with you.
For me the basic needs for human being are, Food & Water, one can not stay hungry or thirsty for long. Without water or food a person is going to die if he stays like this for long.
But luxuries are not going to take any life from you..
what do u people say,, how do u differentiate between the two?

Its easy to know what is more important and you need it for survival or so. Its easy for me to decide though because i have a son. I usually buy him diapers and wipes over buying me choc. I normally put stuff i need or want either way on the back burner untill everything for him is good. I have been in desperate need of a new bra but with christmas i have been putting it off. So i have been wearing this tight sports bra.
