What does everyone think about the Border Patrol Agents who were jailed for using a firearm in a "crime" -- the crime being shooting a drug smuggler who had 800 lbs of drugs. The smuggler had only minor injuries and received FULL IMMUNITY from prosecution for testifying against the Border agents. You can read about it here and then comment. http://www.wnd.com/
There is a link on that article to a petition, asking Bush to pardon them, if you are so inclined.
I heard a somewhat persuasive argument by one of the prosecutors, but I am still having a hard time thinking these agents deserve this.
What do you think?

I think it is a slap in the face to the US Constitution that they are in prison at all. Prs. Bush should pardon them and the Justice Department should prosecute everyone who was part of the Kangaroo court that put them in prison in the first place.

Absolutely! I hope you signed also.
Would you feel like expounding for us on the relationship to the Constitution?

Well, I think that you are right. They should not be punished for something like this. As a border patrol agent you are suppose to protect the border that does not mean that anything can go on within your territory and you are not suppose to do anything about it. When a normal person can fight with the crime, then why not the border patrol agents?
Hope to read your reply soon.
Thanks
Bye....

You are very right. But sometimes if not most of the time, a normal person cannot fight crime either! They've charged people for defending their families and homes!
Criminals aren't supposed to have rights!

there should be more officers that take action like this. and they need to be backed by our judicial system, period. thay put their life on the line daily dealing with scum, and they are going to be treated like this. we need a few more good officers and a lot less lawyers!

Agreed. Did you sign the petition to pardon them? I did.
