We also spend about $500. We have a big family, although for some of them, we do draw gifts - everyone puts their name into a hat and each person draws a name. You buy a gift for whomever you draw.
We don't have kids yet, so I can see how this could be more in the future. Right now, I'm trying to cut down by making more of my gifts, so maybe it will be less this year.

I am going to be spending a little of my own money, and using gift cards that I have earned through this site:
http://www.netwinner.com/?signupCode=Hannah828
You play the game, and accumulate points to get gift $25.00 gift cards for stores such as Target, Best Buy, Walmart, Home Depot and more. I have already earned two gift cards and I chose Walmart (to use for Christmas shopping for the kiddos) I will earn my third card sometime this week. It is easy to play, totally free, and they never Spam you...ever!!! This is hands down one of the highest paying sites I have seen, and there are no requirements except to play. You can also win cash.
All total, I will spend about 150.00 in cash, and about 200.00 in Free gift cards Yipee!
