What do you do when they give you the wrong coffee?

I don't know why the ladies at my Tim Horton's think I need sugar in my coffee. Every day, I order the same thing, Coffee, double milk. At least 1 time out of 10, I hit the highway and my coffee has sugar in it. For those of you who drink Tim's you know it's usually atomic hot. There is no good reason to try to drink it in the first 10 minutes. For this reason, I'm usually on the highway far away from the restaurant when I find out the mistake! I tried tasting it at the window, but it's too hot to touch to my lips. I tried asking the ladies if the coffee is milk only, but they hurredly always say "yes!". What would you do? Would you call the store and tell them of their mistake? Go back the next day and tell them you want a free coffee because they gave you the wrong coffee the day before? What is proper etiquette in this situation?

It probably depends. I think if it happens often enough, it might just be time for drastic measures. Probably once per week, I head to my mechanic near where I work to back up his hard drive, & to hang out. Nearby is a Dunkin Donuts shop where the employees know exactly what's what. When someone walks in & says, "Coffee for the auto repair shop" - they know two small regular coffees, one medium with no sugar, & one medium cup of tea. There is a reason for that one cup of coffee being "No sugar." One of those friends is a diabetic. However, whether or not he likes it like that, he cannot have sugar in his coffee. When that Dunkin Donuts changed hands, we were all mad at the corporate office because of the way they did things. As you can tell, there is a lot more to this than I'm telling. When the new owners of that Dunkin Donuts shop took over, he had a problem with getting sugar in his coffee, from the new owners. It took him bringing his coffee back, & accusing them of trying to poison him. A co-worker, who happens to be a criminal justice professor, sent a letter to the corporate office warning them that if these new owners don't get their act together, they would be in for a lawsuit (With Dunkin Donuts & those new owners as defendants). In the end, the repair shop owner acquired the gas station, along with the small store, & now make their own coffee.

Because you are far from the store by time you discover the mistake it can get a little difficult to deal with the situation. I don't like it when my order is messed up and will ask for a new drink. I don't know Tim Horton's policies, but at Starbucks (I worked there) they have to replace your drink and are supposed to offer you a coupon for a free drink as well. Mistakes are made, but you shouldn't have to drink coffee a way you don't like. Additionally they should only be made now and again, and your order should be really easy to get right!

If someone gives me the wrong coffee in a coffee shop, I will go back up to the counter, and let them know that it was the wrong coffee, and would they please make me a (whatever one I ordered). I am not going to pay for and then eat/drink something that I did not order.
