Why do you think I should put away YOUR CART?

Okay, I've had it. This has happened to me at least five times now, and I want to know what the hell is wrong with these people. Have you ever been in line at the grocery store or the department store, and the customer in front of you LEAVES THEIR CART in front of you at the cash and walks away with their paid for items? Do they think I was put on this earth to clean up after them? Do they think I should roll their cart into the path of other customers? Would it freaking KILL THEM to take their cart and drop it off at the appropriate place on their way out? I'm very abrupt. I'll usually say, "Excuse me, you forgot your cart." or "Excuse me, were you thinking I should put your cart away for you?". Sometimes they say "OH!" all shocked like they forgot and take their offending cart away. Other times they look at me blankly and walk away leaving the cart. Do other people pick up after these people at home? Do they not realize they have a responsibility to clean up their own messes? They seriously leave their cart in front of the register where I have to move their cart in order to put my items at check-out!! Has anyone else noticed this phenomena? What do you do? Finally, if you have ever been a cart offender - what led you to behave in such a wantonly disrespectful fashion? ;)

I think this discussion should be one of the top discussions for today. This is very true. People do this all the time and it gets very frustrating. Let me add to this by saying that it may be helpfull to have a cart waiting for you when you get out of your car, IF YOU PARK NEXT TO A RETURNED CART AREA!!!!! But when you have to try not to hit the cart with your car door when you get out, it's really pi!#$ me off. This is pure laziness and very rude, espessially this time of year when it's cold and crouded in almost any store you go into. The last thing you want to do is do someone elses moral cleaning up. I gotta say I would really hate to see the inside of some of these people homes. Do they waite for someone to take out the trash at home, or do the dishes, or laundry. And are they the pamperd type that just assume that someone will do everything for them????

I want to carry a plastic golden crown in my purse to put in on their head and say "anything else, your highness?". ;)

Sometimes people don't do this to offend others. They simply try to put it there for people who might need one on their way out. I have needed a buggy and one be there. It made me grateful for whoever left it there. I do sometimes think it is rude but i honesly don't think some people do it intentionally.

I think that anyone at a check out stand has already shopped and have their own cart and the people who don't want to leave it for someone else end up pushing 2 carts on the way out of the store. It isn't common curtisy to just leave the cart for someone who dosen't need it on the way out of the store with their shopping already done. But you are right maybe it isn't intentional.

I could see if they left there cart by an entrance or whatever - or at a smaller clothing store where people hover around cash waiting for a cart. However, I'm talking about grocery and department stores with carts at the entrances, where people leave them in the check-out aisle. P.S. You are a nicer, more forgiving person than me. :)

I have only seen this a few times, but every time is more enraging. I think the problem is that some people think that others were put on this earth to clean up after them. Not only does it annoy me that people don't put their carts back in the store, but in the parking lot as well. Parking lots are specifically designed with many helpful cart returns so the lot will not be taken over by misplaced carts. I don't see why it is so difficult for people to walk a few steps and put their cart where it belongs. I guess people are just getting too lazy.
