Should upcoming first lady Michelle Obama receive a check for attending diplomatic functions or should she just do it for love and not get paid for her job as the First Lady?
This is the question I heard on the radio earlier today while driving my daughter to school and I thought "I'm a home maker and I do my job as a wife and a mother for love" but my husband does give me allowance. lol
So what do you guys think? Should the First Lady get a salary?

No she shouldn't get paid. The people of the United States did not hire her. Nor do they obligate her to attend diplomatic functions. Anything she does is because she wanted to or had to because she is the president's wife. What I mean by had to because she is the president's wife, is that Barrack would be disappointed because she didn't go. If we have to pay the 1st lady then I want to elect someone.

I think they earn plenty for their family. I'm not saying that the First Lady shouldn't get paid, but they really don't have a job. We didn't elect her to be a representative, and the president already earns plenty more than an average working family in which both parents work fulltime jobs and have the same number of kids or more. Wives don't get paid for being wives, and first ladies shouldn't be paid for being the presidents wife.
