hi there adhavgeek! sleeping late may not be harmful to most people, as long as you have the required 7-8 hours of sleep. that's the most important part, which is to have enough sleep, and i think it won't matter when you exactly sleep.
but, i've read and heard that call centre agents outside the US or UK have poor health even if they sleep 7-8 hours per day, because they sleep during daytime (since they work at night because in the US, it is daytime). maybe it doesn't matter when you sleep, provided that majority of your sleeping time is covered by night. your body clock knows what the real time is, and it knows when to exactly release the needed enzymes, chemicals and hormones in your body.
there are researches that prove that night-shift people become fatter too quickly because they have "lunch" at the time when their body clock makes them have slow metabolism, since it knows that you should be sleeping.
but, as long as you're not in the night shift work, and as long as you sleep while it's still dark outside, then you won't have any problems. =)
thanks and more power to you! =)

I think sleeping late or not is not the real issue, I guess the thing is how many hours you slept. It's very, very important to get enough hours of sleep, I believe they recommend nowadays, 7 to 8 hours. It's also important to have a regular sleep pattern, if you sleep late at night, it's no biggie as long as you slept long enough for your body to rest and regenerate to be able to function well.
