Okay someone just messaged me here on myLot asking me to help them come here to the US by getting an immigration lawyer for them and hosting them here in the states. then they said my other choice was to marry him legally and not physically so that he could come here. UHH?!?! Has anyone gotten messages from those in other countries with requests like this?

I think you should report this person. He should not be bothering you on MyLot like this. This is awful. I have never had this happen to me, but then I am older and would not attract a fly. I am really sorry you have got this on MyLot. Is it another member or a newbie? I feel sorry for people who are so desperate to flee their own countries but they should not be bothering people like this.

They had about 100+ posts. It was weird! I mean a total stranger asking me to help them come to the US. I'm sure it was a scam, but still.

you have to be kidding me. Just marry someone to get in to another country, that is ***. asking for help is understandable, even helping in this big thing is difficult i think.if someone ask me to do something similar i will straight away answer negatively and may be something even more harsh.

Marry for love and not in name only. Can he not write and get his own immigration lawyer? And is not marrying in name only to come to the States, illegal? I can understand if a guy is visiting you from another country, he sweeps you off your feet, you and he get along, and you are so much in love, and he wants to stay there or if you are visiting another country, you meet this guy, and he sweeps you off your feet, and then you want to move back home, and you do not want to have a long distance relationship, but then you are marrying for love and the getting into the States is not the first intention, more than likely he wants you to move to Saskatchewan with him. or to wherever he lives.

WOW! That's all I can say. You're trying to tell me that this man can't get a visa to come here and apply for citizenship like everyone else? That's insane! That is so dangerous. I've heard of mail order brides, and I think that's crazy. But for a man to request this is insane. WOW!

Yeah! It was weird because he said "if you can't help me, try to find a friend of yours that can" something along those lines. I mean I'd help if it were my FAMILY not some stranger off the internet!

No. That is terrible. I'm sure it is just some type of scam that someone thought up. I guess they have too much time on their hands. I think they should spend more time participating in discussion if they are that bored lol.

LOL No, I haven't gotten a message like that and if I did I'd report the person to MyLot and delete them from my friends. If they want over here so bad, they can apply for a Visa and come over legally. Better still, put some of that energy into building up their own country. well it is just plain crazy for that person to try that kind of thing. i don't know if that person was serious or was just making some stupid joke. but it is not funny for sure. and it is not easy to trust any one here online and you are just right not to entertain such messages.

WHAT?!?!? Ok, I don't know if he's serious or just plain joking but.... whoever that is, he is utterly shameless. I mean, I don't know if you know him outside of mylot or not, but to send you that kind of request... that's way out of line! That guy is either really desperate, or he's just doing it for laughs.

oh thre are many such people who try to reach the US by having a marriage of conveneience. Soem girls wh are able to get a green card make it a business to marry and divorce every year and earn enough money to spend a year in comfort. many people keep on the look out for girls who are in teh US and are prospective "brides" for an immigration. Never fall for such people.

So happy that I find a Chinese on the site. I posted a similar response (refer to the line below yours) before I read yours. Limited sight sometimes results in such extremely different understanding.

i mean are u serious about this crap? I mean the person is even presenting you with options you have? like you have no other choice but o conform? Ok that' s silly and I guess already knew that from the get go. I for one has never had any crazy message like that but I know for certain is bulls**t. You should report that person to the mylot board in any way you can and what is it these people see in the u.s anyways? like is a heaven on earth. lol. you bet sure had a really bad day after that message but chill, that person is just out of his/her mind.

Yes I have been asked a lot of times. But they usually wentright to the point "I will give you that much money if you will marry me so I can come to Australia and then we will get divorced" and I usually said "well if you have that much money you are better off staying where you are".

lol Just explain to this person that life in the US is not the same as usual and that you can be charge for doing this. There are hardship worldwide and some persons don't realized that the US is not bountiful as before. You don't have to delete his friendship just give him a reality check. Some persons don't believe that living and working in his/her country can be better than going to another. Season greetings.

Miss, do not curse those who raise such naive request. But think of the environment they are in, maybe far away in the other end of the world, citizens are not allowed to travel abroad, or not accepted by the US government as an ordinary travelist. They need a contact person to back their visit, sometimes not merely in the financial sense. Difficult to understand, eh? It is true. Things are getting changing. US is open to more countries, still with strict restrictions though. I believe when the guys become richer and their countries stand up decently in the global community, they will stop saying such nonsenses. Anyway, on the safer side, to such request, you should turn down politely with whatever excuses you want to project, but not accuse them in bad words. By the way, about ten years ago, I heard some Americans forgot to ask for visa when visiting some foreign countries, because they thought American passport is enough worldwide. Please share that short of knowledge or experience should not be looked down upon to the extreme.
