Don't be alarmed and please don't pay attention to those people who say my child was potty trained at 1 or 1 1/2. Good for them! Potty training can really be a nightmare if you let it get the best of you. You can try buying the royal potty chair that makes a noise every time she uses it. The only problem with that is eventually she will find out that if she throws something in there it will make the same noise. However, as someone else noted positive reinforcement and encouragement is the best and most effective teaching method. She will get it on her own. If she sees you getting frustrated it won't help her at all also I have read that getting too excited is not good either. When you get overly excited it can add to the pressure she may feel if she doesn't get it right the next time. It took me forever to get my son potty trained. He went through the "holding in" stage with his stool and almost ended up in the hospital with him. Also the more potty chairs the better. I had one in his room as well as all of the bathrooms in my home. Even at pre-k at nap time he still had accidents. He is five now and overnight still is a challenge. Just continue to be patient with her and she will get it.

This is what a friend of mine recently did. She took her daughter out and let her pick whatever designed underwear she wanted with the understanding that she had to stay dry and not poop in them (her biggest problem) or they would be thrown away. So far it has been a success.
