Do you ever have computer troubles?

This past few months has been a nightmare dealing with my computer. First, my (practically) brand new computer stopped working for no apparent reason. And, even though it's still under warranty, the cause of the loss is not covered. Then, I bought a new computer and that one stopped working within a month. It's been a mess. Right now, I have an older computer from the pawn shop and that's working alright. But, it's been almost impossible to get online and post on Mylot or send emails to friends. That's why I've been absent so much. Do you ever have computer troubles?

Of course. Computers are nothing but trouble, lol. Thankfully hubby works with computers and knows them inside and out. Anytime I've had computer trouble he's been able to fix it for me. Only once has it been so bad I had to replace my computer, but the old one still worked, was just too old, so we sold it and bought a newer one.

Probably could make some money with that hobby. People pay good money for local computer repair.

It's not a hobby, he does it for a living, sort of. His store sells computers as well as appliances, electronics, and furniture. He has to know how to do minor repairs on everything in his store because people actually lease the items from him, and his store is responsible for repairs for a year or until the item is paid off. If he can't fix it he has to send it to the manufacturer at the store's expense.

That makes sense. Most of my computer repair knowledge comes from first hand, hands on experience from times when my own computer has broken down. I've never had the money to get someone else to fix my computer, so had to do it myself. The most I've done so far is swap out a DVD drive/hard drive from one computer to another, and some debugging. I'm pretty good at editing the Registry inside the computer, but that's tricky as it can make a computer shut down if you get rid of the wrong thing.

Hallo stranger! Yeah I have been having a few computer troubles the last few days actually. It is something with my router I think rather than the computer and it is having trouble connecting to the internet, in fact I think one day I will turn it off and then I will not be able to connect again. It took me two hours to connect today so I was not very impressed with that at all.

Hey yourself! Yeah, I've had those troubles too. Not so much lately. For awhile we had to call the cable Internet people almost daily complaining that we couldn't get online. They were totally incomeptent. Then they finally sent out a guy who worked on the cables in the attic and at the box outside and got things fixed for good. Now we only have trouble going online when there's a storm or hurricane in the area.

Hey Teapot, While I had quite a few issues with my old Dell, my parents just got one of the new ones and it is excellent. Even though the specifications are just about the same, it outperforms my HP pretty handily. Congrats on the new computer, and I hope that you enjoy it.

The computer problems can be very frustrating. I remember several months ago my laptop got a virus. I had to say that this virus is very "intelligent". Whenever I tried to find "virus" or "anti-virus" words via the net or went to some anti-virus websites. Then the browser would be closed automatically. If you wanted to browse any other websites, that was no problem. If I wanted to install some anti-virus softwares, then the installation wouldn't go on. Even if I formatted the drive C, but the virus was still available. It's likely that other drives were affected by the virus. There was no way to remove it. At that time I had to use another computer to search the information to kill this virus. I spent two days fixing this problem. That's a very strong virus and finally I bought a small and specific anti-virus software to remove the virus. Then my laptop was OK. I love China

Hello beauty queen. I was wondering how come I did not see you around for so long a time. Now I see that it is because of your computer troubles. I am so sorry for the troubles that you have had. Well, it is ok with my laptop as it has been in good condition and in good use. I am lucky to have it being usable all the time without having trouble. Take care and happy posting, dear friend.

Hello my friend! And, thank you for your kind response. Once again, I have been missing from Mylot, but mostly due to the Christmas and New Years season here. I hope your Christmas season went well and you received many lovely gifts. My computer is doing much better now and not giving me so much trouble, so hopefully I will be able to spend more time with my online friends here at Mylot.

Hello beautyqueen26! Wow, it is a mess for having such a crap computers. It must have made you into frustration. In my side, I bought this Acer Aspire 4530 almost four months ago on 20th August. I was very happy because this is literally my own computer. Now that, about a month after using this laptop, it started become crazy where I can not surf most websites such as Friendster, Facebook and many more. The only website that worked well was YouTube. Besides, if I want to log in when my computer is sleep, the window will appear with a heading "Windows Vista". Vista.?? Mine is XP! Not just that, my firewall and anti-virus program turned me upside down with their ignorance to be updated. So, I formatted my laptop and it worked well after that. It did, until 1 month ago my laptop can not recognize me as the administrator. When I want to install some program and uninstall any program, it say "You need to be logged in as the administrator". Ops...I am not the admin? Plus, it become more worse when I can not access my webcam, my speaker sometimes worked, and I have this green outline for most of my programs. Again, I formatted it and for you to know, I just did it last night! Basically, it may cause by viruses. You may need to formatted your computer at first place rather than buying a new one. Anyways, I feel good to share this. I hope your problem will be cured soon. Goodluck. Basically,

Ops, my mistake! It should stop at 'Goodluck', no 'Basically' at the end. And to added more, my laptop is working great!

Honestly, its my father that taught me about computer. He knows a lot, and if I face any problems with my computer, I make reference to him. Lucky me huh? :) Its good to hear that you can now login as the administrator. And yes, its lucky for you too because you find your way out! May the luck is always with you. By the way, are you still having problems with your computer?

Spyware and malware is so prevalent on the Internet. It's only a matter of time before you have trouble with it. I was using Comodo Firewall, but they did not stop the spyware virus from installing, so now I use the firewall from PC Tools. So far they are working.

Hello, beautyqueen26! I have noticed that you were gone from myLot. I thought you quited. I was not sure, though, but I had not seen a discussion of yours in ages! I am glad that you are slowly coming back. I don't use to have many computer problems. I just wish my computer was better, but it is not that great. Still makes me able to log in at myLot and I can post normally. Usually, when I have some kind of troubles, like errors or viruses, I am able to fix it myself. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

I had wondered what happened to you beautyqueen!! But am so glad to see you back here! Yes!! I have lots of computer problems and I asked my hubby about returning it to it's orginal state like when we first got it and he said he thinks it can be done but isn't sure and needs to read up on it. It was working just fine when we first got it but it must've gotten a virus of some kind that my protector isn't getting. UGH!! I sure as hell can't afford a new one right now. How I wish we could!! lol

Just last week we were having computer problems actually. Even with Anti-Virus software we still managed to get a bunch of viruses attacking the computer after my dad used it. Email attachments I am sure. My sister fixed it. She had to completely reload Windows. A repair would not work.

Hi beauty I was wondering what happen to you. I myself did have some computer problems with my laptop. The memory on the board was damage so I have to change it. Then windows was not working properly and so I have reprogramme it. It is now working faster then I can manage it.lol. But it is good to see you again. What did the technies says is the problem. Just shop around and see what assistance you can received. The guy who fixed this computer is a technie but not a certify on but he is good. Sometimes you have to look out for those persons who want to prove. The only disappointment is that you are not living in my country so I could recommend him to you.

How thoughtful and generous. I do appreciate your advice. Ultimately the thing that wrecked my computer was the spyware virus. And, it erased some essential .dll files that I could not get back. I hate spyware. I have a back up disk for Windows recovery and will try that.

Gosh sometimes i had this problem with my PC, when it gets to opening to much windows you had this problems that you can't open another windows in another tabs. So i try to close some windows and in the end you can open some of them again, and after a few minutes, the problem comes back again. It makes me fume that i had to close all my windows, saved my files and switch off my computer and restart again.

I've had lots of computer troubles. The latest would be when my hard disk broke down for some unknown reasons. It cannot be fixed anymore so i had to resort to using my old hard disk which performs far more better than my new one that broke. I had to install Windows XP lots of times because there are lots of errors during installation. It's been hell since i haven't had many posts yet in MyLot and i need to catch up lol! Good think i was able to make my computer work before earnings will update and now i'm back with a clean install Windows XP. I'm more comfortable then ever.

Clean install is a good idea. On one of my computers, I had a clean install of VIsta and then reinstalled Vista to a secondary partition, D Drive and that is working out nice. I wish I'd done it before.

If we have a computer, then obviously we will have troubles. computers are known to create troubles... Could you tell what is the problem with the 2 new computers? what is the model of the computer. Sorry that they did not resolve the issue. I understand how frustrating it might be when both new computers do the same thing. I had lot of trouble with my computer and then I bought a new one. After 1 month the power supply went bad and I replaced it and then my monitor was also stopped working. I replaced the monitor and from 8 months the system is working fine...

I lost my computer this past week to the Rogue virus thing. I was devastated...called my son and he told me I could use his computer. I've lost everything important on my computer but still glad to be able to be online. I quit my job outside the home and my first official day not working then my computer goes down.....when I am counting on online earnings to make it. It scares me as I have no savings and no way to just go out and buy another computer. Right now I don't even have a running vehicle to make trips to the public library to use the internet there. My suggestion for this is to find an older desktop computer and put Linux on it. Ubuntu is easy to install and use, but it runs slower than some (although always faster than Microsoft). Puppy Linux is very fast and small, but it is a little more work to get everything running. But if you can get an old computer for free, or you have one that is broken, then this is a great way to go. You can get most Linux distributions completely free, and just download them from their official site to burn to cd.

Yes, I am having a trouble with my computer right now. What happens to me is that the window keeps dissappearing while I am working on it. I was just posting a response to another discussion and half way through it my email box flashed off and then on again and so the email I am responding to goes back to my inbox and after I finish posting this response I have to open my email box again. Also my computer shuts off when ever it wants to, even if I am working in it. Then I loose what I am working on and have to log in again. It is very frustrating. So that is why I haven't been around mylot much lately, either. Everytime it shuts off it asks me if I want to report it and I don't bother anymore. I know the problem is my sound card I have in my computer for my surround sound. My computer tells me it is the sound card and to remove it. But if I remove it, then I can't use my surround sound speakers. I have taken it back to the computer store I bought my computer from and they tell me there is nothing wrong with the sound card. It drives me nuts and I have no choice but to remove it, soon. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris

Computer Troubles? They seem to pop up for everyone, I'm afraid. I have fewer such problems than some people, but that would be due to my browsing habits being conservative and the fact that I run two programs to ensure my system isn't infected by anything. That isn't the only way things can go wrong, but I also know enough to clear off the hard-drive of junk programs I no longer need, defragment the drive, or other such general issues. I think that makes my computers last longer.

I'm sorry to hear that your computers didn't work very well... I have computer troubles a lot, but mostly small ones. Sometimes, for example, my internet just breaks down but that only lasts a couple of minutes most of the time. Sometimes the whole system blocks and I have to restart the computer, but I guess I shouldn't really complain in comparison with your computer problems! Good luck with your computer(s)!
