I don't get the whole "sweet tea" thing. You either take sugar in your tea or you don't. When I drink iced tea, I always have sugar in it. So why call it sweet tea if it's the norm? We don't call it sweet coffee because we take sugar in it.
If we take lemon in it, we don't call it lemon tea, do we?
This calling it sweet tea thing has spread to the North too. Why call it that?
To be trendy? It's lame.

I've just grown up hearing it called "sweet tea". I've always called it that. That's all I've ever known. And when I go to a restaurant, that's how I order it, and that's how I hear everyone else order it. It's not "lame", and I'm not trying to be "trendy", it's just how it is here in East Tennessee.

No, sweet tea is not a hot tea, it is served cold with ice. It's just tea that is brewed with sugar added. Have you never heard of it?
