Have you seen The Day The Earth Stood Still?

Sunday evening I went to see the movie The Day The Earth Stood Still. In my honest opinion it was a good movie but it had some flaws in my opinion. One is that although I feel Kathy Bates is a good actress, her portrayal of the Secretary of State in charge of the U.S. government was not a role she should have been given. Although, her character came of as an (expletive deleted)as most likely was intended, oftentimes her character seemed as flat and emotionless as the alien Klatuu did when he first started interacting with the human race. The second flaw of the movie was the abrupt ending of the movie. I felt it was a bit lackluster and could have been done with more flair. Now on the plus side the performances by Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly were perfect for the roles that they were given. And I was also impressed by the special effects. I would give the movie a rating of 8 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being tops. Would I see it again however? Yes, and I suggest that you do also.

I agree with you on that. I watched the moview last weekend and I it fell short of my expectations. I was kind of expecting a great disaster movie where in you could actually sense the earth is in peril, the suspense and all, but somehow, I didnot. I liked "The day after tomorrow" better.

It could have been better if the destruction seemed to be happening in more than one country. The message of the movie was that in order to save the planet we need to change. Unfortunately it seemed like the movie only centered on the good old U.S.A. By the way, I also enjoyed the movie The Day After Tomorrow, only I saw it at home on TV with a rented D.V.D. Not as impressive as if it had been seen on the big screen.
