What is your perception of call center agents?

I have been working as a call center agent/ customer service representative (CSR)in a big company right now.
I had a lot of negative perceptions when I began like: I would learn how to smoke, i'd have problems with immorality..
so do you have any perceptions about call centers too?

well i myself have been a call center agent though i left the job long time back it was fun and what i called a good pocket money for some easy job......
the job was really easy though there were some compliance thing we ahd to always keep in check....
it was just calling up US customers and telling them to pay on their overdue credit card account....
the credit cards were all shopping credit cards like GAP, OLD NAVY, AMERICAN EAGLE etc.... some were EXXON MOBILE too.... thats a petrol card.....
there were only two stages ... one early stage and one late stage.....
but i have no idea why we were called like the call center guys and gals....
we were no different from the other school going kids...the only difference was that we were working part time while going to college and writting our exams.....
whats so bad in that
work is finally work.....
yeah we used to party .... just like the other kids in our age.....
i never learnt to smoke in a call center....
i never learnt to drink in a call center.....
i never learnt what is a boyfriend in a call center....
that just goes to show that so many people have such a misconception of a call center including my parents when they first got to know that i am going to be working in a call center.....
but later on they learnt to relax cos the company i was working in was one of the 500 fortune companies and the experience certificate would do wonders to my career in any field....
but we call center agents are as normal as other people.... no flare about us.... just that some of them like to show off their american accent..... let them ..... doesnt harm anyone does it?
call centers do not allow their employees to wear mini skirts or bermudas and shorts..... you have to be dressed in a proper attire which is presentable.....
not the hip hop style as everyone thinks......
call centers are basically fun.... you can start a fresher and also get into the shoes of a manager in a couple of months if you know how to play your cards right.....
nothing realyl fancy about call centers or call center agents....

that's very nice advice you just gave for a beginner like me. I'm really afraid of call centers.but i hope my ignorance and misconceptions dont get in the way of having fun

oh call center is good fun... dont look at it in the career aspect the first few months...jsut enjoy the casualness of the place where everyone is everyone's friend, no age bar, no s"e"x, no religion...everyone is nice, everyone is bad.... mean rude, polite, dotn forget some real snobish people and back stabbers...so have fun, stay clean and dont get into the wring group pf friends.... basically like college just that here you are working and in college you studied....thats the only difference....

Always stay healthy so any interaction with work, co-worker and clients is healthy too.... Especially as an call center agent.... If its work then concentrate on what your working leave behind those personal problems, and that's why you work for, because its the answers for those personal problems....
