Like I wrote, if you feel you're unorganized, put it on a scrap of paper, and make yourself do it. I usually compare that to toothache. A lot of people would postpone a visit to a dentist, but the more they postpone the more the wound is getting serious. I think you're well aware of what I'm talking here. Chin up!

You are definitely not alone.
I have so many great ideas playing around in my head. Even now, I have a few that I would love for it to become a reality. But I just cannot get it to go beyond that... an idea!
And it is frustrating to see it becoming reality cos someone else had the same idea and knew what to do to bring it to reality from an idea!

Yeah... I feel the same way too.
If only we knew what we want exactly.
COs in another thread, poohgal had this very good quote.
"If you know WHAT you want, the HOW will find itself".
Very very true. If only we knew WHAT we want from that idea, I am sure we would have found the HOW to make it a reality.

I keep a special notebook for this. I write some of the crazy and useless inventions of mine like the USB powered toaster or remote controlled oven! I write some of the more down to earth and useful things too; it makes a good reading whenever I need some inspiration. Reading your post, I suspect you're one of the air signs (which are Libra, Gemini & Aquarius). I think you're a Gemini; they are always full of ideas and legend says if they don't get down to work immediately they will shortly loose their motivation for the idea. Please share your sign! :)

You must have a very creative mind, just like mine. I also get a lot of ideas, mostly because I'm a left-handed, and my right hemisphere is dominant (which is responsible for imagination, innovation and emotions). But unfortunately to materialize all those ideas, you must develop you left hemisphere too, which is the manager, the organizer of thoughts. It is mathematical and logical and has the capability to put all those ideas in one order and make them work. So I guess we both should practice more on that left hemisphere, eh? Maybe some math problems? :D

Yep, I'm just like you. Well, I've always had a head full of ideas. Now that I'm older, I've learned that you have to choose one and work from there. Decide what is needed to make this thing... you need a tangible thing to get financial backing, then find a manufacturer to make it, market it, etc.
I "invented" a diaper when my oldest son was a baby. I got tired of spending money each month on a diaper service, then buying disposable diapers. I didn't like the diapers on the market so I made my own. I even went to the patent office outside of Washington, D.C. and did a search. Nope, no one has any patents on any diapers like mine. I just didn't have the money to have it drawn up or patented.
I did get some orders for them, though. All I did was use them on my son, wash them and hang them outside to dry. My neighbors saw them and asked where I got them. I told them I made them and they asked if I would make some for them to give as gifts. SURE!!! LOL I actually sold about 6 dozen of them! Maybe I should pull them out of storage and get them patented... you think?
Anyway, that's what you have to do... pick one and work from there.

Well, thanks, moon! I'm going to give that some serious thought. It's kind of stupid to just sit on this after I've already made them, huh?

thats my problem i get my mind going in too many different directions and dont stick with 1 idea!!
and YES!! you should try to get it patented now!! with every one going crazy over saving the environment people would buy them like crazy!! i have heard of some celebrities doing the cloth diapers now but i cant remember who (of course) so do it!! im sure you will be successful and the more the environmental craze (when i say craze i mean it being popular.. i fully believe in saving the planet) gets popular the more your product will!! its a no lose situation!!

Nope. I also have a friend who has like that kind of "disease". Hehe. Yes, every second, our mind always generates some quite unique and nice thoughts. Have a habit to right them down or if you don't have any paper and pen, use your phones to chat it down. Practice that way so you won't forget your nice ideas!

yes all the time, it is quite normal actually, these are called fleeting ideas, because they leave our heads and memories as fast as the come.

Same here, i do feel what you feel. I think what is locking is motivation. I do have full of ideas too but i am just weak when it comes to implementing because i'm scared of failure which holds me back from doing what's in my head. I m also intimidated by expectation. I know its not productive to be like this but i do try to eliminate it. Little by little i'm am trying to eliminate this not so helpful attitude because i really want to prove something for myself that my ideas will work and that i will be productive in my own little way. Anyways, just try believe on yourself and find ways to motivate yourself as well.

Most of the time I have many ideas but no money to fulfill those ideas.
Sometimes I write my ideas somewhere down, and after some time when I find those note: I usually think of "How silly, I don`t need nothing from it now!"

I often comes to the this situation but I heard that you have to write down whatever comes to your mind. Therefore, whatever comes to the mind, quickly jot down in a notepad, cellphone, etc because sometimes our brain processed the idea from what we look, and the environment affect our thinking. Sometimes we think creatively in a yellow background and sometimes in cold place. I have done this and I could overcome the problem that I had before.

I agree that a lot of us with great ideas come to a point where we get stuck on what to do with the idea. Writing it down will help, try to categorize where your ideas fall into. If it's an idea for a mechanical invention it should go to inventions, a new recipe goes to recipes and so on. Pick those ideas which you can start with easily. If you want to pick on a idea that takes a lot of trouble, try to plan how you can materialize that idea. A new invention could mean you have to spend for some parts and pieces if you can't find something lying around the garage. Planning is a good start. Me and my gang when we were kids used to have a lot of crazy ideas we really wanted to work on. Our location and country on the planet isn't actually the best place to have an idea. It's a place where all your dreams can vanish. Being poor we ended up with broken dreams, unhappy childhood and grew up used and suppressed by society and the government. I wish I had written those ideas back then, I could have tried to make it work at present. Write it down. Being in the USA you have a hundred fold of a chance to get those ideas to manifest. cheers! Good luck on those ideas. Remember no matter how crazy your ideas maybe it just might work like a charm.

if your head is full of ideas and dont know where to start you should raise first your priorities or what is more important for you, you can do it by writing or any styles that you will comfortable, it is just a matter of priorities, which is more beneficial, efficient and gave you the best and right results at the least possible time... i also have a lot of ideas stuck in my head but my problem is i can do it but i can't explain it well. =)

true even my head is also full of ideas..i have ideas for myself, for others, for the country.. most of the time i can not reach to it..but many at a times i try to implement my ideas in real life instead of writting somewhere..
for example i make posters, wallpapers saying some ideas in my college..i got overwhelming response from them.. it is nice to see your idea to take the road of reality..
i believe i am very much innovative.. & always have some idea for everything..how can i put my extra effort to deliver best performance..genarally i use my ideas so that it reach out to atleast one people if not the whole world..

I always have great opinions! In fact I have never ever ever had one bad idea in my life! (sarcasm intended.) But, I always think I have great ideas, the problem is not everyone else agrees with me! lol
No, all joking aside I agree with you. I know you're referring specifically to ideas and or inventions and I have a few of those as well that I have never pursued. But for me, the challenge is when it comes to writing, in several writing courses that I've taken every instructor has stressed the need to carry a journal or notebook to write down any good ideas you have in the moment, so you may come back to them later. Of course, I never do this, nor do I have a journal. It is my own fault of course, I know ways to help myself get things done, sometimes, I think if I'm brutally honest with myself, it comes down to fear.
What happens if somebody a accepts my ideas or my writing? What will I have to do then? Will I be able to handle it all? What if I get in over my head?
And on and on that goes, and before you know it I have myself overwhelmed and in a tailspin running around in circles and not doing anything. Thus, my worrying and thinking becomes a self fulfilling prophecy because I worry about not being able to do something and then become paralyzed by the fear and so CAN'T funtion.
This cycle, brings to mind the phrase "I think therefore I am." In essence, I've found that I am my own worst enemy. I'm also my own worst critic. So I can absolutely relate.
Take care.

I forget lots of my self-proclaimed great ideas if I don't write or record them. That's why as much as possible, I act on great ideas that I have immediately. The problem is if it's too complicated to carry out, I lose interest and get frustrated easily.
