Would you leave your family to work abroad?

It breaks my heart whenever a close friend leaves behind their own family to work overseas. I see it as a sarifice for the whole family in exchange for a higher standard of living. If you have a job locally, and was offered an opportunity to earn more abroad,away from your wife and your kids, will you accept the opportunity and sacrifice the chance of parenting your kids upclose and personal and watch them grow? Or will you stay? Why?
