What will you do if you always hear hurtful words during family gatherings?

It's christmas once again and a lot of us plan to have a family reunion. And there are some of our family members who always give comments that sometimes hurts us. Like you are too fat for that dress/shirt or you will look better on this and that. Or there are times that they comment on your personal life. How do you handle things like this?

This would depend on my mood. If I was in a good mood I would ignore them. If I were in a bad mood I would bring up their personal life and critique it in front of everyone. Sometimes people need to keep their opinions to themselves and at the right time I don't have a problem destroying their opinions with facts.

I would say "I am sorry that your self-esteem is so low that you have to put me down to lift yourself up but please don't make your problem mine" it makes them mad but shuts them up for a while. Sometimes you get lucky enough that it makes them mad enough for them to leave! LOL
