i am a person that don't believe in giving out the well earned money by me to someone else for free. Everyone have their own capabilities and if they try to their best anyone can attain anything . the only situation where i make excuse in my way is when it comes to small children. yes they to need extra hard when they grow up, but to grow up they need help. in my country(India) i am sad to say that there are many beggars , even if they have good health condition they don't want to work and earn.i do my best to create opportunities for this people to work.

There is a differance between charity and beggers. I give to charity when I can, charity to me is places that need help for such things as cancer, burn centers, and so on. Things that people do not have any control over but need help. Beggars are people to me are people that begs for money so that they don't have to work.

you have putted it in a very good manner. i think there is a lot of difference from each person. and there are many organizations in our world that is trying to cheat. at least as far as i know majority around my place is fake. yes they have old age homes , child care..etc but even if i gave them good money they are not using it for the people beneficiary.

You have a good point, but here in the US they do have organizations that really do help people. You just have to be careful when your donating and make sure they aren't fake.

It is like that in the United States as well. However they don't have to beg. The government sends them a welfare check and food stamps. Americans are too proud to beg so the government has to feed them so they don't starve.

in my country there is no intervention of government to stop begging, and there is no way that government is feeding them we are not that rich. i think if government start a teaching session for them and aware them of the many opportunities they have in life to earn.

I don't intend to offend anyone, but if someone resorts to begging on the streets then they don't want a job because they already have one. Begging for money is their job. If they wanted some other kind of work they would get it. I'm talking about the people who beg in the USA because I've never been to India an unfamiliar with how many jobs are available. I own a landscaping company. There are people over here that are too proud or lazy to beg so they will make a cardboard sign that says something like " Will work for food. " When I 1st started the company one of my employees would always ask me if they could work with us for the day. So I would tell him yes. He would ask them if they wanted to work and ALL of them said no. He must have asked at least 30 different people on different days and they all said no. I have no sympathy for someone like that. I have or can make a job opening for someone who wants to work. But it is the people who do not want to work or better their lives. Also when I am able to afford to pay someone to do something that doesn't generate an income I'm going to hire someone to sweep the job site and keep the truck organized. Almost anyone is capable of that regardless of their skills or qualifications.

I used to give money sometimes to the beggars especially those who were small kids and old people.. I feel very pity on them every time I saw them begging just to feed their selves.. Same as you, I also want them to learn something that they should work hard to be able to earned money and stop from begging from other people.. But the only reasons that they have is that nobody want to accept them for a job since they don't have a home were to stay, no other clothes to wear, and most of all they didn't finished their study.. They don't even know how to read and write due to their parents didn't sent them to school..So, its really hard for them to find a good job.. And besides they were thinking that begging money from people is already a job because they were earning something... Here in our country Philippines, there are so many beggars you can see anywhere you go especially in the City.. The government can't do anything to those beggars... They can't even help them.. Actually, they were only choosing people whom they are going to help wherein they will bring them to the welfare but only those little children and old people.. But of course the house for charity isn't that big and financially not always capable to give foods and good shelter.. The government were also waiting donations from other rich people for these people.. There are some generous rich people were helping this charity and some artist but most of the time they were just using the charity to be able to earn point to the people or just to be popular.. I personally want to help them but I don't know how since even my own family, I can't help them solving their problems in money.. My salary isn't that big to be able to share it to the charity since I also need to feed myself and to help family.. But if ever I will become rich surely I'll help them without asking anything in return.. helping others without any immoral intentions are really a good feeling and I want to experienced it..

yes! money becomes a problem when even if some one want to help. but that's why i don't give away money to common people. i have donated many times to WFO,UNO,etc. THey now how to use the money. we cant feed a person with .01$ but many times they are able to.

That's nice. Instead of giving a fish, you teach them how to fish. I would agree, sometimes some people would rather beg instead of flexing some muscles and work for money. Although sometimes, we really do discern and help those who needs it most.

yes there are occasions like that come and if i am good enough at that time i do help and i will help. but sometimes as i am living in a tight life , i will not have money, that is i have plans, i can't give away i used to save or from money i spent on food.

I don't do donations. The problem is most of the charity organizations are so layered with many bureaucratic level such that only a fraction of the original donation really goes to the needy people. Most of the money went to pay bills, salaries, director fees, etc... However, I have done blood donations and would love to join some voluntary work at a near future.

Hi legend, I also don't hand any money or help to those type of people..I don't like them to just depend on someone else where it is very obvious that if they will try to find a job, they will be accepted even if it is a manual labor, they are just lazy to do that! Like you , I will only give food to street children but I really don't give money....I want them to realize that it is very hard to earn this time...I wish parents or couple also will learn how to control especially if they cannot handle to support their kids, very disappointing!

I don't have a problem helping out a person or family going thru a rough time if I have it to give. Someone that is perfectly capable and just out on the streets begging is another story. I have given to them as well but not much. Jobs are hard to come by. It is hard to know their situation. I have been extremely down & out and appreciated every ounce of help from every kind person who offered. I am still pretty poor but we get by. If I see someone in need, I try to help in some way and not always with money. Sometimes just handing money over isn't the best way. Every situation is different. Even some that work hard are in desperate need of help.

To me charity and begging are 2 different things. I have a son with special needs its something that cant be helped or fixed no matter what we do. We dont need charity from anyone right now and hope never do, but the organisations that we are conected with need a lot of money from charity. They need special equipment for all the kids that go there special teaching tools and toys if they dont get charity there is no way kids like my son would be able to have the oportunity to learn and improve.

I agree with you. Each and every person has their own ability to do some work except those physically challenged people. But I have read many stories of these people irrespective of their draw backs they achieved many goals in life. But it is only a small percentage of the population and not countless. But in the other hand it is countless. People are waiting for a reason and sometimes they are begging money by fooling others. It is pity to see some healthy people act as physically handicapped and begging money in traffic signals. People are using their kids for begging and I shocked to watch the kids, just covered their hands with some medicines (I think so) when we look the same we think that it is a burning wound. When the first time I really felt bad on that kid, but slowly I realised that they are fooling people and there is nothing happened to the kids. I think the government should take some steps stopping the begging by healthy people at least.

but in someone's eyes, begging is their job and i have heard that a person bould buy a big house by asking others for money, after all, in some degree, the ablity to obtain people's sympathy is also very important for a man to get success in our society.

Well for me doing charity is a good thing but I do choose whom I will give charity. Like for example, the children beggar on the streets, like in your country, there are also street children here in our country. Bothering people walking along the streets, begging for money. If I had food or juice, that's what I'm giving to them but I never gave them money, I pity them ofcourse but what else I can do for them, I don't have money also. And mostly those street children are begging for money so that they will have money to pay for their internet/online games bill.

I am also a person that dont't believe on giving money to beggars, specially if you work hard for it. But there some instances that you can feel guilt that you have some extra money, and why not give some to them. Because in return that small amount that you give will be replace, it will be double in God's grace.

I also don't do charity often. According to me everyone has the capability to earn. So no need to beg. If I see a beggar without hand and leg I will help him. Otherwise I don't.... If we still help the poor people. They may think without working we can earn through begging. So, I'm not helping anyone until he really needs help.
