It seems that the financial crisis is tightening its grip on the automobile industry as car maker, Chrysler shuts down its plants for a month and will return production by Jan. 19, 2009. The problem it seems is because of its dwindling cash to maintain operations in these plants.
I really hope and pray for the individuals and families who will be greatly affected by this. Companies as big as these guys usually affect other industries and neighboring business as well when they shut down.

My husband and I just heard this on the news tonight. We sort of think they are doing this to pressure the president to go ahead and give them the money. I thought, before they mentioned it was Chrysler, that surely it would be GM, the ones that are having the problems more than the other two.
I hate it for all the people about to be out of work. Sad time here at Christmas. I just pray they start back up and have their jobs in January!

It could be that they are pressuring Washington here especially the president and the president-elect. Hope its not true since this could bring more damage to their reputation as a company.
