i am almost 6 months pregnant and am having back pains. it is not the usual pain on the spine, or on the lower back. it is the pain of a knotted muscle on the left side of the lumbar area.. i think L3 to be precise.
anyway, i feel having the pain of sore muscle on regular times. but on other times, the pain spreads on surrounding areas and even my front and it is soooo excruciating that i am already crying and sweating so hard.
i dunno the cause. i dunno if i should go to my OB, or another doctor. i don't want to waste money going from one doctor to another and finding no answers. i first felt this last sunday. then tuesday and wednesday. but the pain is not permanent. only the sore muscle feeling. when the attack subsides, i feel so fine that i can work again. but today, i decided to rest it out. i am just checking the internet if i can find answers. and later, i will go to a chiropractor to find out if it has anything to do with scoliosis or something, because he mentioned in the past that i do have mild scoliosis.
anyway, i just want to know if anyone has experienced this? please help me by sharing what you did.
take care all and God bless you!

This sounds a little like sciatica maybe, basically a pinched nerve because of the baby's orientation. Usually the pain is mostly in the back of your hips or goes down your leg, but I had a lot of various back pains during my first pregnancy that my OB said was sciatica. Many times I could alleviate it somewhat by shifting positions (though I often had back spasms while driving, and how much can you really shift?). Sometimes resting on my elbows and knees with my back relaxed helped to lessen the soreness. I'd go to your OB first, since it is more than likely pregnancy related. Hope you feel better soon!
