Apparently they got rid of cookie monster because he's a monster and eats too much cookies, oscar because well he's a grouch, and earnie and bert because they are two men living together?
I never thought of these things as a problem and I think it's really dumb that they replaced those good characters.
Your opinion?

being a kid who grew up with these characters on sesame street i have always found all this buzz for being politically correct just plain old stupid!
its a children's show for heaven's sake. i think that only boring grown-ups would ever give that much thought on making the iconic sesame street "realistic". with the path the program's writers and head honchos are going, i will not be surprised if they end up making sesame street into the most completely believable, politically correct, updated, and extremely BORING children's show for grown-ups.

Personally, I do not think that these characters pose a problem to children, I know when I used to watch it as a child, I didn't think "Oh, Bert and Ernie must be gay because they live together." People have to blame someone or something for its problems, so let's take off the Sesame Street characters who have been on there for years. Maybe they should be more worried about the violent characters children admire so much. Thanks for your discussion starter!
