Old age means different in different cultures or countries. In China, for example, when people are retired they spend time looking after their grandchildren. When they are too old to live alone, they live with their children. When people reach this time in life, the attitudes of their family and the community change towards them. They show them more love and respect. In the US, however, it is a different picture. Most people live more independently after their retirement. They would go traveling or invole themselves in some activities to keep themselves busy. I think this is the difference between China and the US. How about your country?

Hehe... i see, i'm also a Chinese and my hometown is Shijiazhuang. But now i go to college in Qinhuangdao. Thanks for your response. Do you think old people are more happy in China? Personally, i think the lifestyle in the US is better, old people are open and can enjoy themselves regardless of their old age while in China old people are a little conservative and can't do what they want. They have more extra things such as looking after grandchildren. They have little time to enjoy life. Of course, this is my own opinion.

Dear friends. I am a Chinese. In my country, the elderly are not afraid of their own old age. Filial piety because we know that the elderly are the traditional virtues of our country. In our country, the elderly and the children are living with the elderly, the maintenance if our elders. Of course, individuals can not be ruled out. However, the majority of people will take a good maintenance of the elderly. Wishes of loder persons around the world to have a happy old age.

I appreciate your observation on the issue, and believe it wise to take the positives of both cultures for own practice. I have a son and he lives a short way from us. We are ready to be present whenever needed, and expect their visits from time to time. If I miss them, I will call and have a short chat.
I travelled a lot after retirement, and has recently found the mylotting platform to continue to be exposed to whatever is happening on the world and have communication with people who accept me.
Aging and leasure did puzzle me for some time, but I believe I can manage way down my life.
