hi, guys! we all tak a trip in order to enjoy the beautiful scenery or relax our body.but certain things can happen to us that could frustrating us and destroyed our good mood. i remember one thats when i accompanied an American professor from Harvard University to visit Beijing. she was coming to give a lecture in our laboratory and that was the first time she came to China. she insisted on asking me to be her touristguide instead of a professional one. she told me that she felt scamed by professional touristguides several days ago when she was showing around another place..During more time on the trip the touristguide kept leading them to local stores or emporiums and persuded them to consume there rather than show them arond some tourist sites..there must be some tricks...so the old professor didn't believe the professional touristguides any more..lol..
have u got the samilar experience? did u feel being cheated? how did u cope with it?

Yeah it will make people feel upset, it's really bad, but "bring him to the police" seems a little over-react. As I know in China, many tourist guide will lead you to the stores for there tips. And there fee could become lower. It's common in many countries. I've ever traveled around a site for all morning, the tourist just charged us 10 bucks for the trip. Of course she lead us to some shops, and we just didn't buy anything.
I think the professor was unlucky that the tourist was too eager to earn money to bring them too many shops....
There are too many tourist like that actually, it's so sad, so I dont hire a guide only if it's necessary. Now we have the internet, the wikipedia:). I always find the information about sites before go there, do a lot homework, get the prices, distance, then make a good plan, finally with friends or just myself enjoy the trip!

I am an independent traveler and I like to travel on public transport and show myself around. I don't like it if a tourist guide keeps bothering and trying to get me to go on his or her tour. Often there are tricks to get the tourists to buy products from friends or family members of the tourist guide. It is worth asking which sites a tour goes to and finding out where lunch will be if that is relevant. If disappointed I would complain. The tourist guide should show interesting sights like attractive buildings and places with history. I had a superb walking tour around Tikal and it was worth it because the guide talked about the history, the animals and the plants. I learned very much from the tour guide that spoke excellent English. In Tallinn in Estonia the old town had many tour guides with more than fifty tourists each. It felt like my son's pushchair would be knocked off the pavement with such long lines of tourists everywhere.
