How would you live if you're a Roman Catholic, but excercising Christian faith?

I have been doing this since my 2nd year in high school. I'm a Roman Catholic since birth. But lately, I was exposed to a different practice in a totally different religion, the Fundamental Baptist. Though it is my choice to be in this situation, I am really confused in what to believe in. For instance, I am in an active Christian group at school, and whenever they ask me where is my church located at, I just say I don't have a home church at this moment. But the truth is, I have one; yet, it is not in their line of faith. I would then blame myself in not telling the truth. I know of persons also experiencing this kind of situation. But I really can't get enough of it. Nevertheless, I don't want to leave my in-born religion because I'm bound to be with my family. It's also my choice. To get to the point, I don't know how to explain my belief to other people, whether they're Catholic or Baptist, because I, myself, don't know what I believe in. Help me please. If you were me, what would you do?

I grew up as a Roman Catholic. In college I have learned many things about God. I came to know the truth. Since my family is Roman Catholic, I still identify with other Roman Catholics. I have to respect other's belief. There will come a time they will really know the truth and develop a true relationship with God through Christ.

Hi markbrauer1!.. If you don't have any belief in any religion, how would you stand for it? (did i get your response right?) :)

I hope that you have resolved this inner conflict by now. Pray, pray and pray. Let God show you the light. Both Catholic and Baptists are means to bring you close to God. I believe that all roads lead to Rome though some roads take longer. Both believe in the same fundamental teachings that Jesus Christ is our Lord and saviour. Don't let family ties or friends influence your decision. Don't let the way they celebrate things influence your decisions. Go deep in their teachings.

Find a quiet place and get in touch with what you really believe, pray for understanding and read and study the bible. When you are sure, make that commitment. "This above all: to thine own self be true." Pay no heed to what your family or friends think. all the best urban

Same situation as you are. I was born a Roman Catholic but practicing a born-again Christian faith, as people may call it. It is my decision to remain in this faith, to have an intimate personal relationship with God. At first I find it difficult because my parents sometimes don't allow to go to fellowship, prayer meetings, etc. But did you how did I overcome it? I shared to them the wonderful works God has done in me and the gospel about Jesus. At the same time, I still go on with the meetings. Later on I realized I don't really have to choose what religion or faith should I go on. The teachings are almost the same as Roman Catholic does but I only strengthen this personal relationship with God and I no longer do the false practices like the Catholic do: kissing on saints statues, etc.

God tells us in His word that we should study our Bible (not just read it) and have a personnel relationship with Him. He also told the Pharisees, and us, to "love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind" (Mat 22:37). He also gave us the advise to live the way Jesus did, and although this is not always easy, He says that we are in all things capable through Him that gives us the power. My advise would be to go to the Lord and ask Him what He wants you to do and read the scriptures and pray, and do what He says without question. Good luck and know that I will be praying for you, that God will give you the answers you seek and that you will be a light for Him in this dark world.
