Firefox faltered Opera fluttered

Much praise has been heaped on Firefox while Opera gets sidelined. Something happened this morning (+8.00 GMT) to prove that the Opera browser has an upper hand over the Firefox browser.
I use Firefox quite a lot because it is supported by McAfee Site Advisor. This morning I had some problem to download myLot. My son also faced the same problem. I restarted the PC and the problem remained. While Firefox was still struggling I used Opera to access myLot. I typed and submitted two posts. No hitch. Firefox still presented me with a blank page of myLot.
Who says Firefox is the fastest and the best?

I did.
All the other websites had no problem. The problem with myLot on Firefox eased off after 12 pm or approximately 12am CST. So the problem may be related to heavy Internet traffic accessing the server. This implies Opera beats Firefox in situations like this but I may be wrong
Thank you for your response.

I don't know much about opera. I have used it only for about 2 days because torrents can be downloaded with it. But later i found that torrents cannot be paused in it. So i stopped using it.
Even sometimes when i try to access some sites it won't load but after clearing the cache and cookies it will work.

While I haven't had an experience exactly like yours, I've long felt that Opera is an underrated browser. It has always seemed the fastest to me, and I've never had problems with it freezing up on sites as I still sometimes experience with Firefox. With FF, though, people get very attached to the add-ons -- I know I actually feel unsafe browsing without NoScript these days because I've gotten so accustomed to it protecting me. (Opera, though, has a good reputation for being a secure browser.)

Underrated and underlooked. There are people who give comments based on what others have said, not on real experience. AFter a few minutes on Opera they feel they know everything about it. As a former computer technican I had the opportunity to use and test various browsers on different configurations. Opera always came out tops. There could be people who hate Opera. In the last comparison test made by a group of people only IE, FF and Chrome were used.
I am using Opera on sensitive websites because it is secure. I have found out that Firefox can be hijacked by malicious remote users. I am not fond of add-ons.
My youngest brother has an 486 machine which he uses to access the Internet. After testing several browsers he found Opera to be the best.

Sorry to say this but maybe because the increasing popularity of Firefox at least one site insists on Firefox. You have not given further details on why you chose Opera over Firefox apart for it being secure. It would have helped those wanting to know the experiences of other users.
Thank you for the response.
