i believe its Sachin Tendulkar and Shewag .. both are aggressive and they can get the team a very good start. But these days Gambhir is also doing very well i would not mind him either.
Good luck India!

i agree with u.i still remember the match against pakistan in the world cup where they scored 98 runs in the first 10 overs.the main advantage with tendulkar-ganguly partnership is the left-right combination and the advantage of sehwag-tendulkar partnership is that both are very agressive players.happy lotting

I think Tendulkar-Sehwag combination in one day cricket was great. Both are attacking batsman and love to go after any bowlers in the world cricket. When these two open the innings, its is just treat to watch and one can only imagine how much six and boundaries both can hit under power-play. The opening pair of Tendulkar and Sehwag seems to be quite successful where usually Sehwag goes after the bowling and Tendulkar play a patient innings by hitting the loose deliveries. Overall its entertaining to watch this pair opening in an one day match cricket.

Sachin & Saurav payer is definitely by far the best international cricket has ever seen. But definitely now the current Indian openers from Delhi are doing a great job and I won't be surprising if they perform better than them. Specially shewag is an amazing batsmen and very aggressive. His recent performance in the test match resulted in winning the test match. He single-handedly code one third the run in such a short span of time that it was very easy for the rest of the batsmen to maintain a healthy run rate and sport advance. They never felt the pressure of scoring runs quickly which could have been dangerous.
Also they had a good understanding between them. They run very quickly between the wickets which results in a lot of singles which is very important for any partnership to grow. All in all I guess they are a very good player as an opener indefinitely they will do wonders the time to come which will be better for Indian cricket.

Almost everyone before me has commented that sachin & saurav are the best opening combination for India. Probably you were not priviledged to have seen srikant & ravishastry in action. They won us the champions trophy just by themselves. Both were a perfect foil foil for each other. Srikant could wack any bowler over his head & Shastri was elegance & calmness personified at the other end. India did not loose a single match in that champions trophy & Shastry was declared "champion of Champions" at the end of the tournament. Srikant had 3 ninties in the tournament.
For me this was the strongest India at the opening slot.

Sachin - Saurav is the TOP INDIAN combination ever till date
And going by the current scenario, I would say :-
Sachin - Sehwag and Gambhir to follow at 1 down

yes i agree with you...sachin and saurav are the best..also the left and right hand bat combination always affects the opposite team as they have problem in setting up the field..other then this sachin and saurav broke a lot of records and were always a winning pair..
thanks
happy mylotting

Yes definitely in ODI's Sachin and Sourav dominated Indian cricket for a long time. Both complemented each other very well. They were not only the best in India but in the world, overtaking the famous Greenidge and Haynes opening pair. But then Cricket was played mostly on true pitches rather than the placid ones we have been seeing since 2 decades so that teams could score more as this game was becoming more audience oriented.
