There should be a proper dress code. It promotes discipline, hygiene I think haha, cleanliness and.. Hey. It trains you to dress professionally. The university is a learning institution, preparing you for the real world. Things should be serious..

When taking it somewhat professionally, dress code is very much ok but when it comes to compulsion of it...seems a lot like school....with too many boundations...

there definately should be a dress code for all colleges.... though it shouldnt be as strict as my colleges were....
we were only allowed to wear the traditional indian salwar kameez to college...
i never wear the salwar ever as i find it very uncomfortable and cumbersome to handle.....
so i would rather wear a pair of jeans with a kurta on it to look decent.... or a simple formal shirt or t shirt..... but not a salwar for heavens sake
so there should be a code in all colleges for the dresses that the students wear but it should only go as far as wearing something decent....
the ones who break the rule woul dbe fined..... thats the best thing that a college can do.....
i had to go and get my self 7 pairs of salwar for my one year of college which after the college ended i never ever wore till date and now they dont fit me anymore....
so whats the point of buying them ?

of course, a dress should be comfortable and should make you feel confident enough..what is the use of that kind of dress code..which is only showing a professionalism but not comfortable enough to..have it with you for mere hours...

Well most college students are 18 and up. I think they are old enough to know what's proper to wear in certain institutions. I do not think people will dress like someone going to a strip club in a learning environment. Of course it sometimes depends on where the college is located. . .or what kind of college it is that will affect what type of clothes people wear (ie: A "party" college). I don't think wearing clothes that are too tight are a problem as long as it suits the person. . .(but if it looks like its about to rip then there is a problem lol). I have not seen anyone at the college I'm going to wearing things that are way too short, or too revealing, but then again the college I'm going to isn't really considered a "party" school :P. And dress of their choice is a bit vague. . .what if someone (or some people) interprets that as they can wear whatever they want or even use that opportunity to play a prank
so they go to class wearing hardly anything at all? (I've heard quite a few cases of this, but don't know if they are all true lol)

yup..you have good points...that also depends on the locality where the college is located..and people should seriously consider what to wear...in fact..most of them..have appropriate sense of wearing...and exceptions..are also present everywhere..well buddy...thanks for your responses...keep mylotting..

since colleges, universities and learning institutions are places of learning, i believe that students should dress properly. no shorts, not alluring tops, no tight jeans, no daring blouses and no braless tops. its annoying to see students wearing such because they are still to young to become liberated. at the same time students should be respected at all times so how are the people will respect them if they are not decent looking.

of course there should be some seriousness regarding what to wear...but that should not be under limited boundations...atleast there should be some choices...buddies..thanks for your responses...keep mylottin
