New Years Eve spending it with your other half or not?

Ok here is my problem: I have the chance to go away with my friends for New Years Eve. We are going to see a group we love who is performing that night. Last year I didn't go because I worked the over night at work. The past couple years I worked it because I don't drink and work always needed the help. Now that I am out of work with a hip injury I am free to go. I have been told that you should spened it with your other half but there have been others who said go for it. I am still hung up on what I should do. How are you spending the night? If you had a chance to go by yourself would you? Is tradition a ruler?
