Technically my cell phone is cheaper because i rarely use it and its a pay as you go phone. I guess it all depends on which one you use more and you plan.

One thing that makes my landline so expensive is that, because of where i live, everyone i call, its long distance.

It all depends on the schemes and offers. Have both and make use of them economically. I personally think Airtel has the best offers for both landline and cellphone. Next in line is Vodafone.

I guess it depends on what goodies each line has. We have the lowest on both of our phone lines, despite the fact that we have 2 cell phones and 1 landline. Even if we would have had just the one cell line, then the landline would be cheaper. In the long run, it just depends on what extras you think you need.

Yeah I agree with you, cellphone is more costly compared to landlines, especially if a person wants the latest model of mobile phones. But the only thing with that is you can carry it anywhere you go.

I would prefer to use my cellphone than a landline. Considering that it's practically long distance to call anywhere, long distance phone calls are included in the monthly bill, and you can make and receive phone calls anywhere. A cellphone is a little expensive though.

Landline phone is cheaper but is impractical if your always on the move. I guess cellphones being costlier is compensated by the benefits that you can get over time. Being it so mobile is what makes it better than landline phones.

It all depends. If you take in consideration, a land phone as a digital, and if you use the cell phone for long distance, the land phone would be cheaper because the cell phone would be charged for long distance calls made and received. However if you just use the phones for local calls, and do not receive long distance calls, the cell phone would be cheaper since you will get the standard rate and weekends free and if you go on the pay as you go and do not phone much cell phone will be cheaper. However if you do a lot of local calls, the land phone will be cheaper. So it all depends on what you use it for. If you travel, and take out the sim card and have a different sim card for each city, then you will be charged for each sim card, and that will enable you to receive calls and will raise the cost of using your cell phones. However you can keep your old sim card if you only make calls when you are traveling and tell your friends to call you on the land line phone of the place you are staying at. It all makes sense.

You're welcome. We do have a digital home phone and a cell phone for emergencies. It works quite well and I do not have to worry that if I am out in a park somewhere, that I cannot get a hold of someone. It is not like it used to be years ago where there was always a pay phone nearby. And thanks for the best response.

There are two aspects in it. Cell phone has two segments in it, the cost of the handset and the recurring expenses on bills etc. If you compere the handset position, good and trendy Cell phone are bit expensive than an ordinary land line phone. As far as call rates are concerned, to my knowledge, Cell phone's call rates are still costlier in comparison to land phone. However, there are various schemes provided by the service providers to lure their customers, but most of the service provider give you some concessions only when you are conversing on a cell number having the same service provider's network. Both have become integral parts of our life. If one has to make choice, means if one does not want to maintain both types of phones, then the vote will go to the Cell phone, because it is quite handy and can be carried anywhere and you can get in touch with anyone around the world with it. Cell phones offer you the facility of sending and receiving SMSs, which is normally not available in the land line phones.

Riya! If one goes out of station, he/she is required to pay for 'incoming' as well as for outgoing calls, more than the 'local' rates, which are paid, while talking in home network or your living area. So it was normal on the service provider's part to charge you more rates while you were on roaming.

Hi frnds, Now it has became a cell phone vs landline phone.I think cell phone is best phone to have better than a landline phone. In cell phone we have so many offers for a call rate.In my home we have three cell phones we don't have a landline phone. For cell phone we take any were with us but no landline phone. Now cell phone is became more popular and every one taking and buying a cell phones only.More and more cell phones were increasing day by day.

It depends on the service provider. In the philippines, landline phone charges are cheaper than the mobile and using your landline calling to the range of your area are free. While in uae, mobile and landline charges are just the same. But to the advantage of landline that there are also calling to nearby areas are free.

In my case, I think since I am using a prepaid sim for my cell phone, it is cheaper also I can communicate by sending SMS some oneliner. Also networks have this program on network-to-network calls can be unlimited for only a period of time. So my verdict is cellphones are way cheaper nowadays than maintaining a landline.

Mobile phone is indeed more expensive in making calls but it is more efficient and since there is a price war in my country, I think it would be so much cheaper for me to make calls with my mobile phone in certain hour because we could do it for free. I am now renting a room so that I don't have the land line phone. I think it would be costlier if I should install the land line phone in my room since I am not at home that often.

I think landlines are a lot cheaper, especially now that a lot of companies have surfaced to do them cheap. The VOIP lines are pretty cheap, though they have flaws, and you have to have high speed. Cell phones have endless charges, seemingly

Depends on where you place your calls to. If you frequently call other landlines, then landlines are definitely cheaper. If you contact people through texting, cellphones are much cheaper.
