i am using a desktop 3 years old and would like to go for a new one because this pc has gone beyond upgradation so i am interested to have a new one
i am stuck with a thought whether to go with the desktop itself or a laptop
i am interested to have a laptop but as you see the cost of the laptop is more and the display really is bad with the laptops compared to the desktops and more over the price difference is more
you can get a better configuration if prefer laptop to desktop
the charging is again an another issue
what do you guys suggest?

It just depends on what you'd use it for. If you're just home most of the time then a desktop would be better for you since it'd be bigger and hold more space. and the plus that they're also cheaper. A laptop is perfect for your if you're a student or go to places a lot and have wireless internet access to a lot of places you're going.
I have a laptop because I'm a student and I'm on my school campus and work a lot where there's always wireless internet. Good luck on your decision

Hey,
Nice question you have just asked their. It really depends on what you want to use it for. If you need a more high powered computers for gaming or whatever your needs, it is advisable that you should get a desktop since thay are much faster and have a faster hard drive speed. But on the other hand, if you need a computer mainly for school/college or whatever and would like to take your computer with you wherever you go, it is suggested that you get yourself a laptop. But again, this all depends on what you are going to use it for. If you need a laptop for ultra portability, don't forget to check out the Eee PC range.

It depends on your budget and on your computer requirements. If you need portability than go for a laptop if not go for a desktop.

[i]Hello prajwal2222,
I think I'll go for the desktop first. If I have some enough and then I'll buy a laptop. The desktop is cheaper and has more power than a laptop. It is better to have two computer in case the other one broke down. And with a laptop, you can have more mobility with it.

Well the difference to me is that with a desktop if it needs repairs is usually easy to just replace the part yourself as to with a laptop you gotta take the whole thing in to get it fixed or whatever. But laptop offer conviency and what not. But price really shouldnt be a issue now. I got my last laptop i got from compusa.com check it out for some good prices on both desktops and laptops. hope you find what you are looking for.

Hi,
If you want the system to be portable i.e. if you want the system to carry and work anywhere then you can go for Laptop.
Otherwise, i would tell you to go for Desktop. Because it is easy to use rather than Laptop and second thing is of the Price as said.

Hello, prajwal2222!
You seem to be more used with a desktop. Then, why changing for a laptop? If you do change, you will have trouble in the beginning. The keyboard, specially, is pretty different. If you are used to typing without looking at the keyboard, you will find yourself making lots of mistakes in the laptop, because the keyboard is smaller and it is not the same thing. The mouse is in the touch pad, which is also bad. You should buy a mouse if you are going to buy yourself a laptop.
A desktop computer can easily be upgraded. You can pay for new hardware and install it yourself. However, in a laptop, it is much more complicated. I would stick with the desktop.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

Thats kind of tough to answer for me because I have both and use both at the same time for my work. I like my desk top because I can choose the screen size for it and it seems faster most of the time. But I also like my lap top. When I am almost finished working and tired of sitting at my desk I can take it to the couch with me to finish up while watching tv or a movie. Also if it breaks down it's easier to take in for repair than lugging your desk top around.

Hello prajwal2222, I perfer to have the desktop because you can connect your home theater system to the desktop and watch movies online for free in great sound and your music library could sound and play like a jukebox. But you can connect a labtop to your sound system however you can't go outside on the go with it LOL. Either way make sure you get enough memorey and speed for best results. God bless.

Both have their own advantages, i personally prefer the desktop and use it more often. But a laptop is very convenient to use and it doesnt need any space whereas the desk top takes up a lot of space.Pricewise they are about the same i feel .I feel you should go for a lap top as you already have a desktop , but how is it that it cannot be upgraded? My desktop is 8 years old and still doing fine , and being serviced frequently though! I am still using it along with the laptop..

I would like to give you a advice ,dont buy laptop !
because if you get a laptop ,whenever you leave your home ,you will always think about that whether you should take it with you, thus you will be locked by it .trust me ,i remember that once i was invited to attend a wedding ceremony ,i was still going to take my laptop .all in a word ,it will occupy your some outdoor life! it is not about expensive or cheap !it is about a lifestyle!

It's depend on what is the purpose that you use your pc. If you use it for gaming, it's better you go for desktop, if you just use to check mail, surfing net, and etc, then you go for laptop. I prefer laptop because I can bring it everywhere. The price for laptop now is almost similar with a desktop, with a low price and you can get a good laptop already. =)

it depends on your situation.. if your just in your house, then i prefer desktop.. coz' its easier to
upgrade than the laptop and much cheaper.. but if you like to go places and travel, a laptop would be nice..
although its a lil' expensive, it will cost you less power consumption..

I would go for a laptop because you can use it even in bed or in your office. laptop offers us mobility that the desktop does not. Laptops might be slighter more expensive than desktops but I would shop around.

I much prefer a laptop to a bulky desktop. I can take it to any room in the house which I cannot do with a desktop. IMO it is worth spending a little extra for all the conveniences of a laptop.

I think it depends on if you are going to have to use it away from home or not. I prefer a desktop because I think they are more sturdy. I also think they are cheaper than a laptop. It all comes down to personal preference though.

I would personally go for a desktop myself! I agree that a laptop can be very convenient as regards taking it with you anywhere you go. The only problem is, when it comes to upgrading, laptops are not that suitable! With desktops it's very likely that you can keep the desktop for a number of years and you can carry out some upgrades internally thereby increasing the computer's performance. Andrew

Your decision should depend on what is your preference. You need to compare your preferences. A desktop has to remain where it is. But it can be customized to your delight without too much constraint on your budget. A full blown monster pc that can play the meanest games and power hungry applications. On the other hand, a laptop is a thing of convenience and luxury. If you intend to use a computer while on the go, a laptop is definitely the choice to make. With a laptop you can carry your work anywhere with you. Access and mobility is the key. But with a laptop it can be a very sensitive and expensive piece of equipment. It can easily break in mobility. Basically anything can happen on the move. If your work requires the need for mobility then a laptop is definitely your choice. But if you don't need to go around much with your computer and would rather stay in one place to do it, then a desktop pc is a must for you. cheers!

It completely depends what you are going to do with your computer. A laptop is great if you need to travel. It is also great for saving space. At the same time, a desktop can be cheaper and may be preferable if its just for a desk at home. Either way, you can always customize your choice. Laptops may be more expensive, but if you customize your desktop with all the features you want, it can be even more pricey. For example, I bought my laptop for $680 and it does everything I need it to. My dad wanted a desktop for multimedia projects and paid $1100.
