Is the stock market turning around?

I know that you can't really know if the market is turning around until it has already happened. That being said, it is good to be watching it, and looking for potential opportunity.
Looking at the chart for the S&P index, I am quite interested in what is going on. Right now it looks like there is both potential for the market to make it's definitive turn around, and also for it to break down even farther.
Obviously I hope that it is all uphill from here. But you should make trading or investing decisions based on hope. All things that I've bought are set to sell if the market drops enough from here. But I am cautiously hopeful at the moment.
Anyone have thoughts regarding the current chart for the S&P?

I wouldn't bet that the worst is over. However, it is a good time to divert your attention into stocks of companies with strong fundamentals. It is not surprising that even companies that are still expanding in their operations at this time have their share prices plummet 50% of what it used to be back in 2007. However, if you plan to put your savings into shares, do note that you will not expect high returns within a year or 2. Do speculate with caution and never take a loan to buy shares or buy in more than what you can afford to. Happy MyLotting...

Yeah, if I was investing, I would only be looking at companies with extremely low Price to Book values and high return on assets. As it is I am only doing short term trading with rather tight loss controls, and I am using stocks and inverse ETFs. I'll be alright as long as the market can choose a direction. But the back and forth is killing me.

i dun think it will pick up so soon as more and more companies would be reporting losses in coming year due to economy slowdown. There are reports that US economy would only recover in around 2014. companies are now starting to their retrenchment execise and it can only get worse in 2009 so i dun think stock market would perform in 2009. however, i think share prices would hit their lowest in 2009 and it may be good for us to pick up some bargain and hold on to it for about 1-3 years for profits.

I honestly have no idea. I have not heard much about it recently. I sure hope something changes fast for everyone before it gets alot worse for all of us.
