Anyone here over 40 and planning on returning back to school? I am and I'm so trying to not think about it too much. I definitely want to get my degree, but I'm going to be the minority. I'm too old to be the party animal, too old to try out for cheerleader and definitely too old to join a sorority ..unless they need a house mother! Anyone been there, done that? How did you blend in or did you?

Hi! Over 40 here!lol I just applied to the community college to finish my nursing degree. I started it in 1992 when my children were little and I was raising them alone. Im excited to start back up and you should be too. It doesnt matter about all the stuff you mentioned. Be your own person and do your own thing. Talk to who you like and even who you dont. Thats how you meet people. I talk to everyone because I love people. I am a people person, and its ok, not everyone is, but at least try. You would be surprised some of the friendships that are built. Good Luck!!

hi dipepsi,
I've gotten the ball rolling some. Wednesday I had an appointment with a counselor. I was seriously looking for an excuse for not going. I even called a friend that has been encouraging me to do this. Yes, it was 16 degrees, yes, there might still be ice and snow on some of the sidewalks, and yes if I didn't do this I would feel soooo stupid. I did it though. My ears were freezing by the time that I got there even with a hat and scarf, but I was glad that I did it. The planning is beginning to become exciting and my son said that I picked the best field, geriatric case management, because it is recession proof. I wonder if my son will feel like that parent that is riding through Staples at the beginning of the school year gathering school supplies?...lol
Anything in the health care profession is tough, but you seem to have a head start and know where you are going and what to do once you get there. Good luck to you!
