Are you still using a CRT monitor or have already switched to LCD?

Although the prices of LCD monitors have made it really attractive to switch, i remain using a CRT monitor. But this only because I am also into photography. I feel that its easier to calibrate and reproduce accurate colors in a CRT monitor compared to its more space saving counterpart. What about you guys, which type of monitor are you using with your computers?

yup, I'm still using CRT monitor. But this is my last CRT monitor as my next monitor will be a LCD. Its gonna be next year when I will build a gaming PC.

for gaming, i think an LCD is better because you're gonna be staring at the screen for long, long periods of time. goodluck on your gaming. enjoy!

I'm using LCD monitors everywhere; they don't seem to wear my eyes out as bad as CRT monitors. However, if I were doing much with art/photography/gaming/video viewing or production you know I'd be using a CRT. Nothing compares...

i use CRT monitors for more accurate color reproduction. but the time i spend in front of the monitor is really limited. my eyes get easily tired from staring at the screen for long period of times. if it really weren't for my photography hobby, i would be kinder to my eyes and switch to using LCDs. i hope they come out with an LCD monitor that has CRT color reproduction or a CRT that is more "eye-friendly". hehehe thanks for posting your response.

i switched to 19" LCD this year. i say LCD is good, with space and energy saving and all. but i agree that the colors are always better in CRT and is much ideal in photography. good luck!

yup. admittedly, LCD monitors are better in terms of savings on energy and space consumed. they're also kinder to the eyes. if you're not into photography or anything that requires accurate color reproduction, LCD monitors really win over it much bulkier CRT counterparts.

I'm using a Hitachi LCD monitor. I already switched from a lousy NTC CRT monitor. My CRT monitor gave me a hard time. I had difficulty aligning my CRT screen and the colors are too dark so i had to use Adobe Gamma to compensate and adjust it's brightness and contrast. It's must be a low quality CRT monitor. I never had those problems here in my LCD monitor.

low quality CTR really do abound. i remember having a CRT before which i got really cheap. it blew out on its 2nd week of use. never really got that brand again. glad to hear your happy with your LCD monitor.

I switched to an LCD monitor only this year. My old CRT monitor was about 19inch and chugs out a lot of electricity. Plus it also gives out a lot of heat. The time to replace it really came when it began to perform poorly and needed repairs two times. Then the energy crisis came looming and it broke the camel's back. I am even having apprehensions of selling or even giving the old CRT monitor away since it will just pile up the electric bills of the one who will get it.

that is true. compared to an LCD, CRT monitors really do consume more electricity. if you find no practical advantage over CRTs, then switching to LCDs is the way to go.

I'm using a 17 inch CRT which is perfectly OK for me and the cats like to lie on the top as well I can't think of any good reason for getting a LCD flat screen - I'd deprive the cats of there nice warm perch for one thing.
