Christmas is one week away, are you ready. I got the tree up and sone of the decorations, but for some reason I am just not into it this year. Don't seem to matter how much I decorate, the spirtit just isn't in me. I am usually out putting up lights outside and putting the presents under the tree, and it just don't interest me.
Seems like we all go to my daughter's and everyone is in a hurry to eat and get the presents open they all have some place other to go, soon as they can get done at her house. Grand kids go to their dad's, son's have to go to g/f parent's house, other son down the road to his son's house. So it is eat and open presents so eveyone can get on their way. There doesn't seem to be that family thing that was was years ago. Everyone got their own life now adays and no time to sit and visit. Just eat and run. Do you think the reason for families getting together at the holidays are slipping away. Is it eat, open presents and run at your house or do you still spend the entire day with family on the holidays.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas and that the new year will bring better things to all of us.

Dear friend,
I do enjoy every Christmas except those which I could not when my close relatives expired. Other Christmas are great for me and mostly we do all those starting that lasts for a week till the new year has come. This time we are ready for the Christmas and we have already full packed. Merry Christmas and Happy New year in advance.

I'm having a hard time getting in the Christmas spirit myself. And it irks me. I love this time of year. And even though everyone has something else going on, I'm still going to see most of my family this year. But recent events have caused me great worry, and I can't seem to shake it no matter how hard I pray or think positive thoughts. But I figure if I try hard enough, the worry will eventually go away. And I do hope this Christmas people will come to stand still long enough to fully grasp everything they truly have.

I've learnede to live my life one day at a time throught A.A.
Iy makes things easier to deal with.
There is no tomorrow as when it arrives iot is actually still today is my outlook.
So I look to todays events and what happens the following day will be dealt with at that time. A lot less stress etc living my life this way.

wow when did this happen, last year or something? cause it sounds like you are telling us how christmas went for you when its not even christmas yet. well hopefully we still spend the whole day at our families on christmas and not having to come home early. hopefully its like any other year when we come home after a long day. although i have to agree with not really in the mood of christmas this year since my grandma passed away and she isnt here with us anymore. but i hope your family will spend a pretty long time with you like you said they would any other year for christmas and new years and not being in a rush to go other places.

I'm almost ready for christmas. still need to get a few more things for a couple of people and then i'm done.
we aren't really in the spirit this year either.. it just doesn't really feel like christmas.... i'm trying to be though.. i can't wait but that's because of my camera lol we don't have a big tree this year. my niece is one and she'd pull it down if we had one so we have two little ones in each corner of the house.. ones sliver and the other one is normal but small and only a few decorations in the house..
it does seem like a lot of familys are on the go... certain people in our family aren't like that though and they will take the time to sit around, talk and visit and then there are the people who are hi and byes.
hope you have a good christmas!

I've been feeling that way too. I think its just too much stress, with the state of the economy, the constant bad news on tv, and the fact that I need to work 1/2 day on the 24th and go back to work on the 26th, makes it hard to see everyone I'd like to get together with. Usually, I have a lot of people call me during these two weeks who I haven't spoken to in a long time and it helps me reconnect with them. This year though, I haven't been called by anyone. I'm hunting for my address book and am going to start making a few phone calls so I can capture that magic feeling. If not, I'm going to get a copy of the Charlie Brown Christmas special, which for some reason makes me feel happy everytime I see it. I hope your holiday is filled with love and you spend it with those closest to you which will help you feel Christmasy again. Peace to you.

I think it is the let down of financial crisis and the thought of prices streaming through our heads before we buy something. I my self now think more before I buy something because of this and I think its just one of those reasons that is a let down near Christmas time.

when the kids are little they stay with you, but when they have families of their own they have to divide the time,
it is hard on them too and I don;t think many can get to relax and enjoy themselves anymore

I have had my outdoor lights up for a month and a half already due to I want them up before the snow and cold came. I also have had my tree up a few weeks now with presents wrapped setting under it as well. My grandkids stockings have been stuffed and ready for them for a couple weeks as well. I always love this time of the year. As you can tell by my avatar I also show my spirit wearing this hat out when I venture shopping etc. A few more gifts to buy and wrap this weekend then I am done.

No, I'm not ready.
I have to figure out some presents, some food, and do some more cleaning. But I'm more readyh than I was.

i bought my last 3 presents today, NO MORE! I didn't have much for my grandson and I though he would feel slighted because his sisters got a few more but it is easier to buy for girls. But he got a new truck today and I bought him a sterring wheel cover and I bought him a holder for his cell phone that clips on his side. And some socks, he must think that socks should be worn once and thrown away. I think I did well with what I bought for this year. I would of loved to have bought everything they said they wanted but too many and to expesive. So here is hoping everyone has a great Christmas.

I am pretty much ready for christmas. We put up our tree about three weeks ago, maybe
even four weeks ago. We put it up as soon as we bought it. It is just a four foot tre
and came with the lights on it already and put together so all we had to do was
unfold it and spread the branches out. It is an artificial one, obviously.
We also put up our other decorations around the house, at the same time as we put up our
new tree so it has felt like christmas for us for some time already. I love it. We will
end up keeping up all the decorations till about the middle of January. I have a friend
back in Winnipeg that keeps his tree up all year round. He says that way it is christmas
every day for him and it puts him in a good mood every morning when he sees it.
We have finished most of our shopping, just need to pick up the odd thing yet. So we
are pretty much ready for christmas.
Already then, talk to you later my friend,
Have a good mylotting day, Chris

I guess I am as ready as I am ever going to be! I don't have much in the way of family but I have several good friends who I spend time with. I guess Christmas is mainly for families and kids! It's nice to have the decorations but I don't bother much as I live independently. One thing I do love about Christmas is the movies! I know that a lot of them are repeats but I still love to watch them; they certainly make me forget about other things! I guess I have a lot of friends online though and so I send Christmas ecards online; they're a great idea. Well, you have a good Christmas and have a drink on me! Andrew
