Hi There! No, I can’t live without eating rice. Here in the Philippines, we eat rice like 2 or 3 times a day though I lessen myself from eating rice since I am on a diet… lolz.. trying to actually. I guess it depends on the country and tradition… other peeps can live without eating rice since they are used to it… Happy Mylotting and Happy Mylotting! Cheers!

hi kreah7, my dear friend, i love rice and its our staple food also. i can eat rice in all our meals. i am an asian. when i got married, my hubby's family is such , that these people dont eat rice. they eat it once in a blue moon. and i am a female who skips it once in a blue moon. there was a great difference between us. in the starting i cooperated it but , then after a couple of months, i remember in nine months i cooked rice here for just 3 or 4 times. then it was on crossing my border line. i couldn't do anything. you wont belive, i am the only cook at my place and i use to eat out and use to make food for everyone at home. the reason was rice. i was literally starving. i dont like having bread, chappati, pasta and all that stuff. i use to skip my meals, i use to have just soup, or veggy, with curd, buttermilk, salad . this was all the food which i use to have. i was literally starving here, when one fine day my hubby noticed as he was at home and asked me if i was on diet. then i told hhim that i am a hard core rice eater and your parents because dont eat rice i dont cook. they dont even allow me cook just for myself.so i eat all this stuff. then he use to take me out everyday and i use to have my food out after cooking for everyone in house. now because he has also started eating rice, i make it regularly and nobody says anything . when i remember those days, man!!!, really i hated them. i donno how i survived many sotuations here.

Well, if the situation persists me to live without rice then I can live without it for months. The one thing I can't live without is flour.

Well, I do think thatthat is just a matter of adjustment. I live in the Philippines and here rice is always present from breakfast to dinner. When I travelled to other countries for training, I have to adust to the foods there. Yes, I made it. There was even one time that I had a training for one month and most of the time, I ate potatoes instead of rice.

hi there kreah7, i'm also from Southeast Asia, and we both know that rice is an integral part of our cuisine. especially here in the Philippines, no meal is complete or even delicious without a plate of steaming hot boiled rice. i find it odd that such a bland cereal can be so likeable, and even vital, but i can attest to it, since i feel happy and satisfied after a lunch, dinner or even breakfast, with rice. maybe it's because of the way we were raised (on a diet with rice), that we have become emotionally and culturally attached. i think living without rice is unbearable, like all other Filipinos. i tried having rolls for breakfast, lunch and dinner for 1 week, and it doesn't feel the same. plus, i also gained weight because i didn't feel full too soon. thanks and have a great day! =)

I am from India and in our part of the land, rice is the main food for both lunch and dinner. But I prefer not to eat it. I like to have hand made breads ( as it is called here) for all my meals. And I have passed more than two months without rice along with my family. Even the local rice shop owner thought that we have been transferred elsewhere as we were not buying rice for so long. Happy new year..

Yep, I've actually done that for 3 whole months while I was assigned in the US, literally replacing rice with bread, pasta, or potatoes. Of course when I got back home and the price of pasta gets expensive, bread is not that good to begin with, and preparing potatoes is just tedious, I went back to eating rice.
