Understanding promote love

Last night,my roomate talked with me about understanding between lovers.She said they quarreled a lot for lack of understanding which had made her upsetting for long a time.To my way of thinking,understanding is the result of the jiont efforts of the lovers and it needs time as well as their commom mutual trust.What's your opinion on understanding?
