If you live in a country where you can drink from tap water, would you still drink from bottled water?

I always buy our drinking water (though I don't drink water lol)... but I buy it only because my little town likes to put enough chlorine in our water, that we can bleach our clothes without using bleach! lol! Tuesday's seem to be the day they do it.. I get in the shower and the entire house smells like clorox all day long!

I think I will choose water from tap water at most time, and sometimes drink from bottled water. To drink clean water is the first I think when I want to drink. So, if the water from tap water is clean enough, why I not choose it? Of course, bottled water give us convenience, that is why I sometimes would still choose it.

Thanks for your respond connieconstance. Clean water standard differs from each country and another country. So, when my country declares that the people can drink directly from the tap because they had changed the pipes and the improve the clean water standard, I'll drink directly from the tap. I'll be rarely drink bottled water, except it there's contamination in the tap water.

The water that comes out from our taps here is very hygienic and safe to drink. Our water is so clean it surpasses the standards set by the World Health Organization, and we can actually drink the water straight from our taps. But many people here, including myself, still boil our water for drinking, just to be on the safe side in case there are still germs and chemicals in the water that may affect our health. We don't have to drink bottled water at all. I think mostly, it is the tourists who buy bottled water to drink, because probably they are not aware that our tap water is very hygienic for drinking.

Well, actually I meant to drink the water right from the tap without boiling it. Like I often watch from movies. I also drink from the tap but not directly because I also boil it like you do. And I'm very much sure that people in my country have to boil the water from the tap if they want to drink it because it's not so hygienic though it's crystal clear. In some area, people absolutely don't consume tap water though it's crystal clear. See? Clean water is very important element to support life. So, save the water, save the world! =))

Yeah, there is. Like the USA for example. But I'm not sure whether all area in the USA allow the people to drink from the tap. Point is, bottled water costs more. If we can drink from the tap water, why not? I drink from the tap water too though I boil it first. But only I wish I can drink from directly from the tap. I only drink bottled water when I'm out of the house. =) Thanks for responding Erssyl.

In a country where tap water is dependable for health then we can drink tap water. In some countries bottled water is also contaminated. So we have to make sure which water is more pure.Boiled water is better.

Hi bhanusb. I should say that every country try to provide clean water. I often saw that people can drink water directly from the tap in the movies. So I just wonder do whether they still drink bottled water knowing the fact they can drink directly from the tap. In my country, people can't drink from the tap because it's not safe though it's crystal clear. We just have to boil first. So bottled water industry here is so good. Anyway, thanks very much for responding.

I live in a country where we could certainly drink safely from tap water. I had been drinking it for 20 years or more. But for the past years, I can't imagine how it happened, we have started drinking bottled or purified water which is so much more expensive. Our tap water is still very safe to drink but we just opt to drink purified or bottled water. We no longer drink tap water but we still use it for our food. Personally, I drink bottled water because of its taste as most of my siblings.

I wish my country can provide clean water that are ready to drink like in yours. But it just doesn' happen that way. My parents live in the city and they drink bottled water too. While me, since living nearby the mountain where bottled water industry are many, I still use the water from the tap but I have to boil it first. To me, some of the bottled water brand taste odd. Thanks for responding.

I live in the USA and have never had a problem with tap water. In fact there have been many studies that show that tap water is better than bottled water and it is certainly less expensive. There are many brands of bottled water that are in fact just tap water. In most areas in the US people are just wasting their money if they buy bottled water and in some cases it is more harmful to their health.

Hi stealthy! If I live in the US, where I can drink from tap water, I'll do the same thing as you do. And I agree about the tap water being less expensive. Just imagine how a bottled water took such a high cost to be drank, while you can drink whatever the amount you want to from the tap. Why would spend more for something that can cost less? As long as it is not harmful, I'll take the tap water. Thanks for your respond.

Tap water is safe to drink in Australia but I can't stand it and I hate bottled water as well which is often just tap water that they pretend is something clean. I have rainwater tanks in my home and I only drink rainwater that I filter to remove any particles that get into the tank through its filters. Rainwater is pure water. It is the best and I will never drink tap water again if I can help it.

I live in America and I can drink my tap water if I wanted, but it dosen't taste as good or fresh as bottled water for some reason? Maybe if I buy on of those tap water filters to put over my facuits that would help a little? I'm not a big water drinker so I usually don't drink my tap water or buy bottled water...I usually just drink gatorade or coke or sprit exc...Hope you have a nice night caesarin good luck (=^.^=)

Hi BloodShyne! Once I went to Japan for a business meeting. I was just an employee, so I was very excited to be invited in the company meeting abroad. There, they served me tap water in my glass and I didn't think the water taste differently. But anyway, you should drink more water instead of gatorade or coke or sprite. You might have health problems if you continue drinking them. Love yourself by drinking more water. Of course they taste better. But anything that taste better is not always good for your body, don't you think so? Thanks for your respond. Have a nice night to you too (^-^)/

i can drink tap water but i have to boil it first just to be safe, but not directly from the faucet. i think nowadays we can't be sure if tap water is safe because it passes through a tube that is buried in the soil, we never can tell if the tube under is still clean or maybe the tube is already leaking, then water might already be contaminated. or sometimes if the tube being use is a steel it will rust in time. i would still prefer to drink bottled water though it will cost you some amount but at least what you are drinking is 100% safe, you don't have to worry.
