My cat likes to throw his litter out of the box and when he jumps out, it goes everywhere. Any suggestions for cat litter that won't track out of the box?

You can try a covered box or use a litter box hide-away. Take an old cabinet with a hinged door. Cut an opening in one end of the cabinet for the cat to come n go. Place the liter pan in the opposite end of the cabinet. Litter that is scattered out of the pan will at least be caught in the cabinet. You can also reduce litter being tracked by lining the bottom of the cabinet with a piece of outdoor carpet or mat. Time to clean or change the litter just use the hinged door to access the box. You can also use one of those stick up or solid air fresheners inside the cabinet. Don't like bending down to clean the litter box, then choose a cabinet that has legs so it sits off the floor. Best thing is you can paint the hide-away to match the decor of any room so you are not limited to keeping the litter box in the utility or bathroom.

That is a very good idea. I never thought about anything like that. Thanks

From my experience I'll say cat litter is going to get tracked out of the litter box no matter what kind. I'd suggest a litter box with cover and putting a paper towel or something similar in front of the litter box. Then you can just dump the litter off the paper when you clean out the litter box.

There is a litter made of little white crystals that doesn't scatter. Some cats won't use it, however. You don't scoop it; it just turns brown when used. When most of it is brown, you just throw it away and start with a new batch. It lasts a long time and doesn't smell. None of our cats will poop in it, however.

It's unlikely he'll stop, so you may be better off getting a covered tray. My rescue cat had a problem where he would lift his butt as he urinated, so spraying the wall: a covered litter solved that. It does take them a bit of time to get used to it, but in general it's pretty quick and solves a lot of troubles! Just make sure you get one that's big enough...

i have a little tray that sits outside of the litter box that the cat steps on when she gets out so the litter is left in there instead of the floor.
