the early 20th century,american chewing gum was invented by thomas adams,ancient greek chewed mastidne-chewing gum made from resin of the mastic tree.the ancient mayans chewed chicle which is the sap from sapodilla tree-pass habit to settlers.early american made chewing gum from spruce sap and beewax.
1848, john b.curtis made and sold the first commercial,chewing gum called state of maine. dec 28,1969 william finley semple became the first person to patent a chewing gum.
in 1871 thomas adams patented a machine for manfacture of gum.by 1880 john colgon invented away to make chewing gum to taste better for a longtime while beening chewed. by 1888,adams chewing gum was called tutti-frutti became the first chew to be sold in the vending machine.
by 1899,dentyne gum was created by a new york druggist frankln v. canning.1906 frank fleer invented the first bubble gum called blibber-blubber gum.the bubble blowing chew was never sold.
1914,wrigley double mint was created william wrigley,jr and herny fleer was responible for adding the popular mint and fruit extracts to a chicle chewing gum.by 1928 a employee of frank h.fleer company,walter biemer invented the pink colored double bubble,bubble gum.the first was invented by frank herny fleer in 1906 it was later perfected by walter diemer,who called his product double bubble.

very interesting.
When I was a kid and lived on a farm I would go to the wheat fields pick the ripe wheat get the thin shell off it and chew till Ihad gum.
I used to chew gum alot but then I got dentures and dentyn was all I could chew as the rest would stick but then I havent had any gum for many many years.

wow times have changed they have freeident chewing gum for people who has dentures and it works it will not stick to you at all.thank you for sharing and merry christmas to you and your family

chewing gum i like because it help curve your appetite if you are hungry just pop a piece of gum it will sustain you for a while until you get some real food and they have sugarfree gum.my grandson love gum he go throgh my purse looking for gum and he is 18 months old.thank you for sharing

thanks for providing us the history of chewing gum. I don't like it much because I think it is impolite to chew when somebody is talking to you. Besides that it is messy and people often leave that under public transport seats or any other public places.

thank you but thoughs who deposit of the gum in the right place we are enjoying all the flavors they have provided with the help of all these mens.i thank it is nasty where people deposit there gum but all people do this when getting rid of there chewing gum.merry christmas to you and your family
