euthanasia is something that we hardly ever speak of. yet, i do know quite a number of people who would rather die than prolong the agony and anguish of dying. why are we so morbidly afraid of dying anyway? i mean, all of us eventually die. it's just a question of when.... the question about euthanasia rests on our understanding of the value of human life. i, for one, do not believe that we have the right to put into a person's bloodstream heavy chemicals to poison him until he dies. neither do i believe that it is necessary for us to try to cut short the pain and anguish these suffering near-death individuals are facing. what i do want to believe is that we are obliged to do the normal - REGULAR - things we can to save someone's life. and that does not mean having to go to the extent of having countless tubes poked into the body of the individual just so he "lives". but is it really what HE wants? have we really begun to understand the mind of the person who is in a dire situation that the only thing he wants now is to END HIS SUFFERING and spare his love ones of an agonizingly painful death? how about you, what are your thoughts about life and death? is it possible to aid persons take their lives? is it ethical to not perform extraordinary measures to save a life especially if that life has nowhere else to go?
